Man charged with Internet luringBy CHRIS DOUCETTE, Toronto Sun Last Updated: September 2, 201
A 48-year-old Toronto man was allegedly surfing the web
for kids, but he soon found himself tangled up in an undercover sting operation. Now he’s facing Internet luring
charges as Toronto Police appeal for other possible victims to come forward. “We know he has been talking with
young people on the Internet,” Det.-Const. Jason Albanese, of the Sex Crimes Unit, alleged Thursday. “But it’s
too early in the investigation to know to what extent.” Police allege the man recently made contact with what
he believed to be a “young person,” using the Internet and text messaging. But that young person turned
out to be an officer pretending to be a child, one of the dozens of cops across the province who regularly patrol the web
in search of pedophiles. John Thomas McBride was arrested Wednesday and charged with luring a child under 16 and attempt
invitation to sexual touching. He is expected to appear in a College Park courtroom Tuesday. The accused used
the email address firerangerca@yahoo.com and the user names “firerangerca” and “jmcbride.” Albanese
said detectives are hoping anyone who had contact with McBride will recognize his e-mail address or user names. “We’d
certainly like to speak to them,” he said. Anyone with information about McBride is urged to call investigators
at 416-808-8500, or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
B.C. child porn suspect linked to global ringBy
QMI Agency Last Updated: August 28, 2010 5:39am - Vancouver high school teacher Christopher Charles Ingvaldson, 40, was among the 11 people arrested in
worldwide child porn ring bust. (Independent Schools Association of BC photo)
A Vancouver high school teacher
arrested in June for child pornography charges has been linked to an alleged international child porn ring that was operating
on popular social networking site Facebook. One other Canadian - a resident of Kelowna, B.C., - was among the 11 people
arrested worldwide in the bust. He has not been charged. In Vancouver, Christopher Charles Ingvaldson, 40, was arrested
June 4 and charged with four counts related to possessing and accessing child pornography. Vancouver police began investigating
Ingvaldson, then a teacher at a private school, after the RCMP was alerted to his alleged involvement in the international
ring by Australian police in May, said Sgt. Tony Cavezza, who heads the Vancouver police vice unit. Police uncovered
no evidence that any of the children in the child porn being distributed were in Vancouver, and are confident that's not the
case, Cavezza said. Ingvaldson was immediately relieved of his duties by St. George's School, an all-boys school for
students in Grades 1 to 12. He has been released on bail, and his conditions include not working or volunteering in
a position that would put him in a position of authority over people under 16, Cavezza said. Ingvaldson's next court
appearance is scheduled for Sept. 21. Kelowna RCMP arrested a man who was released without charge. Police are
working closely with the Crown on that case and expect to lay charges of possession and distribution of child pornography,
but it is not known when the charges will be laid, Const. Steve Holmes said. The investigation, dubbed Project Ocean,
was launched by Australian Federal Police (AFP) in March, when an officer created a Facebook account and was approached by
"numerous" users to become friends, Australian Federal Police said in a release. By engaging with these Facebook
users, police identified the network whose members they allege were exchanging "child exploiting material." Police
say the network used Facebook to host the images and shared images and videos through the use of private groups. AFP
worked with the RCMP, the FBI and the U.K.'s Child Exploitation Online Protection Centre in the investigation. AFP assistant
commissioner Neil Gaughan, who heads the force's High Tech Crime Centre said in a release that Facebook took action immediately
once it was alerted to the offensive activity. "Facebook deactivated the online accounts of the initial suspects
but there were indications that, within hours, the groups were re-forming again,'' he said in a release. In a joint
statement, Facebook and the AFP said they are working on "protocols that will ensure activity of this nature is more
rapidly reported to Australian law enforcement." The global partnerships involved in this investigation are being
credited for the ability of various forces to react quickly and apprehend suspects in the child porn ring once alerted by
overseas law enforcement agencies. Cavezza said the "very close working relationship" is a positive aspect
to this case. "Sometimes criminals use the Internet and feel safe because the anonymity that it affords, and they
feel the safety of their homes or workplaces means that they can conduct this kind of behaviour and not be detected,"
he said. But the international busts should "put criminals on notice," Cavezza said. "Who would
have thought that eyes on the other side of the world in Australia would have detected him?" Convicted sex offender
Ian Green, 45, the alleged head of the network, has been sentenced in British court to four years in prison. The West
Sussex man pleaded guilty to six counts of making, one count of possessing, seven counts of distributing and 10 counts view
to distributing child porn. Court heard that Green used 11 different Facebook accounts to distribute indecent images
of children, the BBC reported. Green was granting selected contacts access to private Facebook groups that contained
the images. Five more suspects were arrested in the U.K. and three men were arrested in Australia, police said.
Ajax man charged with online luringBy TAMARA CHERRY, Toronto Sun Last Updated: August 27, 2010 5:47pm - John Victor Rahal allegedly sought out girls from 10 to 14 years old over the Internet, police say.
An Ajax man is accused of spending hours in front of the computer, luring girls from online chat rooms
before “exposing himself” over webcam. The 36-year-old man, who lived on Root Cr., near Harwood Ave. N.
and Rossland Rd. E., was arrested Thursday after a nearly three-month investigation that involved undercover officers posing
as girls using online chat rooms, Durham Regional Police Sgt. Nancy van Rooy said Friday. Investigators allege the man
sought out girls in the “10 to 14 age group,” before engaging in sexual conversations and “exposing himself”
over webcam, van Rooy said. “He never pretended to be (of the) female gender. He was always male and in some cases
(allegedly) exposed himself to prove (it),” van Rooy said. There was no indication the man pretended to be younger
than his 36 years, Det. Randy Norton said. “We’re not sure how many victims are out there,” Norton
said. “He’s very active in the chat rooms (and dating websites) and that’s why we’ve released his
picture. We’re aware of a couple people he’s talked to, but we don’t know who they are.” Norton
said he’s waiting to examine the man’s computer to find further information. “There were numerous
chat rooms to speak of but no one in particular, so I think he was just a surfer out there trying to be successful luring
anywhere, anytime type thing. I think it’s all this man does, or did,” van Rooy alleged. “He had access
to many computers and spent lots of time. This (allegedly) was a passion, so to speak.” John Victor Rahal was
arrested during the execution of a search warrant at a Kingston Rd. W. home in Ajax. He is charged with seven counts of Internet
luring of a child, seven counts of invitation to sexual touching, five counts of indecent exposure of genitals to a child
and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Rahal, who used to live in Oshawa, was known to use screen names
“John_Rahal2003” and “Rahal73.” His first court appearance was scheduled for Friday. “Parents
need to be more diligent and be aware of what their kids are doing on the Internet,” Norton said. Anyone with
information about the case was asked to contact Norton at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5363, Det.-Const. Brian Vickers at ext. 5349
or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca.

Winnipeg sex offender's freedom short-livedBy
ADAM CLAYTON, QMI Agency Last Updated: August 15, 2010 5:00am - Joshua James Turner, 26, was arrested Saturday for alleged probation violations. (HANDOUT)
WINNIPEG
- A high-risk sex offender has been arrested in Winnipeg for allegedly violating his probation. Joshua James Turner,
26, was apprehended without incident about 8:15 p.m. Saturday in the area of Keewatin Street and Notre Dame Avenue. A few
hours earlier, Winnipeg police asked for the public’s help in finding Turner, who had last been seen Friday night in
the city’s downtown area. In an initial media release, the Winnipeg Police Service said officers were concerned
for Turner’s well-being as he has a number of health issues. Police did not offer any details regarding those issues. Turner’s
record includes convictions for sexual assault, harassment, indecent phone calls and court-order breaches. Saturday
wasn’t the first time city police asked for the public’s help in finding Turner. Last November he was arrested
just one day after he was released from jail. At the time, a source said Turner had walked into a downtown office, locked
the door and asked the female employee — who was alone — for sex. He fled and was arrested at an area hotel shortly
afterward, the source said. That arrest came a few hours after police released Turner’s photo and description
because he had allegedly walked away from a Winnipeg halfway house a day earlier. City police also asked for the public’s
help in locating Turner in April 2008 after he allegedly walked away from a halfway house on Arden Avenue in St. Vital, just
a couple of days after being released from the Headingley Correctional Centre. Turner was arrested two days later in
the 100-block of Main Street after he had allegedly broken into two businesses in the first 100-block of Portage Avenue and
used office telephones to call phone-sex lines and computers to look at Internet pornography, city police said at the time. In
November 2004, Turner appeared in the Winnipeg Sun as part of a monthly Crime Stoppers list of wanted criminals. He was accused
of breaching probation orders related to a sexual assault conviction.

Thu Jun. 03 2010 4:24:23 PM TDSB teacher charged with sex assaultWeb Staff, cp24.com Toronto teacher Chi Cuong Hang, 38, is facing sex assault charges. A Grade 7 teacher at the Toronto
District School Board has been charged with sexual assault in connection with a case involving students. A letter was
sent home with students from Don Mills Middle School on Wednesday, informing parents of the charges against Chi Cuong Hang.
Hang taught English, math and phys-ed, according to Grant Bowers, a lawyer with the TDSB. He has taught at the
school for the past seven years. On May 14, four students in the man's class complained to school officials. The information
was immediately passed on to police, Bowers said. Police completed their investigation by May 31 and laid charges soon afterward.
School officials say the teacher has been sent home on a paid leave and has been replaced by a substitute until the
matter is resolved before the courts. "We know that this situation may be upsetting for some of our students and
will ensure that supports are in place for those students," the letter says. "TDSB staff is available to our school
to help students with any questions or concerns they might have." Parents are invited to come to the school Thursday
evening at 6:30 p.m. for a special meeting with officials to "review procedures" and ask any questions they may
have. The school is made up of students in Grade 6, 7 and 8. Hang is charged with two counts of sexual assault
and two counts of sexual interference. Toronto police say there may be more victims who have yet to come forward. The
charges come just a day after police arrested another Toronto teacher for allegations of child pornography. Police
recovered child pornography images of boys between the ages of five and 12 from the suspect's home. Stuart Adams, 46,
faces four child-pornography related charges.

Teacher Charged After Child Pornography Seized From Home2010/06/02 | CityNews.ca
Staff Police have charged a public school teacher after they reportedly seized child pornography from his
west-end home. On Tuesday, detectives say they searched the Eglinton and Kipling-area residence of Stewart Adams
and found pornographic images of boys aged five to 12. “We seized a quantity of media including CDs, DVDs
and several terabytes of hard storage. These are external hard drives which are capable of storing a massive amount of data,”
said Det. Cst. Chris Purchase of the Sex Crimes Unit. The 46-year-old Adams is a popular ESL teacher at Kingsview
Village Junior School in Etobicoke and has worked there for more than a decade. Before that, he taught at the following
schools: - Park Lawn Junior Middle School, from February 1, 1990, grades 6 and 7
- Wellesworth Junior School,
from September 1, 1990, grade 2
- Lanor Junior Middle School, from September 1992, grades 1, 2 and 3
Although police don’t yet know if Adams took the photos in question, they’re concerned there could be victims
who have yet to come forward. “There’s no indication so far from police that this involves any child
in the Toronto District School Board,” said Grant Bowers of the TDSB. “It’s always very concerning
any time one of our trusted professionals who is working along with kids gets charged with any kind of sexual offence, particularly
this. It’s very disturbing for the board.” So far, he has been charged with possession, making, making
available and accessing child pornography. He was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning. School
officials hope to address parents’ concerns at a community meeting at Kingsview on Thursday at 3:30pm. Anyone

arrests of four men on child porn and other charges this week.

18 and 21st after executing search warrants and seizing computers. Detectives are now wading through 1.5 terabytes worth of
storage space on those machines.
The men charged range in age from 22 to 56.

An undercover investigation targeting online paedophiles in Durham has led to four arrests. And
Durham cops say last week’s child pornography and Internet luring sweep should serve as a warning to creeps who use
computers to prey on children. “Be aware, the police are on the Internet every day and we will catch you,”
Det. Randy Norton, of the Sex Assault Unit, said Wednesday. The veteran cop is one of 53 officers from forces across
Ontario who work together hunting paedophiles as part of a continuing provincial initiative which started in 2006 and is led
by the OPP. The four arrests made last week may not seem like much considering the large number of predators lurking
in cyberspace, but Norton said many hours of work goes into each bust. It often starts with an officer signing into
a chat room, typically as a young girl around 12-years old. The predator becomes the hunted as he’s reeled in through
lengthy conversations that can include requests of a sexual nature and even invitations to meet in person. It may take
weeks or even months, Norton said, but ultimately police will obtain and execute search warrants like they did in Durham on
May 18-21. Four people were arrested on 26 charges and eight computer hard drives were seized. Daryl Clarke,
22, of Oshawa, is charged with possession of child porn, make child porn available and possession of marijuana. Ronald
Parr, 56, of Whitby, is charged with three counts of luring. Matthew Macklem, 27, of Oshawa, is charged with seven
counts each of luring and invitation to sexual touching, as well as one count each of possession of child porn and distribution
of child porn. Arthur Denyke, 37, of Oshawa, is charged with making child porn, sexual interference, sexual assault
and invitation to sexual touching. Investigators now must begin the daunting task of sorting through all of the evidence
seized, including 1.5 terabytes of computer files. Anyone with information, should contact Norton at rnorton@drps.ca,
or 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5363. Tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca.
Child porn charges laid on Toronto nudistA 75-year-old nudist is facing 11 historical sex and child pornography
charges. Toronto Police Det.-Const. Joel Manherz said Dutch police passed information to them recently that helped track
down alleged local victims of the man. Officers searched the man’s downtown home Wednesday before announcing the
arrest and charges Thursday. Police alleged the man was communicating with Edward Brongersma, a former Dutch politician
who died in 1998. “He was (allegedly) trading letters and photos with that gentleman,” Manherz told the
Sun Thursday. “We were able to refresh that information.” Brongersma was a member of the Dutch senate, an
advocate of lowering the age of consent for homosexual relationships and author of the book Loving Boys. When Brongersma
died, Dutch police seized his collection of visual material as child pornography. Investigators alleged that between
1969 and 1985, the Toronto man photographed more than 40 child victims from 10 different countries in sexually explicit poses.
The man had sexual relations with many of the children, police said. The alleged victims are from Canada, England and
eight other countries, Manherz said. Police said the man gained access through his affiliation with various nudist organizations
around the world. Detectives released the suspect’s photo, one showing his current appearance and one as he appeared
a few years go in the hopes of tracking down more alleged victims. Julian Mardon, 75, of Toronto, is charged with buggery,
two counts of indecent assault on a male, two counts of gross indecency, three counts of making or possessing obscene matter,
mailing obscene matter, possession of child pornography and making child pornography. He is expected to appear in court Tuesday. Police
said the investigation was a result of co-operation with the Haarlem Police in the Netherlands, Interpol, the OPP and the
National Child Exploitation Co-ordination Centre. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-8500,
childexploitation@torontopolice.on.ca, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS, online at 222tips.com, or text TOR and
your message to CRIMES. Stephane Deschenes, director of the Federation of Canadian Naturists, called the charges sad
and unfortunate. He stressed naturism does not provide access to sex offenders. “It is a family activity,”
Deschenes said. “No adult is in a position of power.” “Being affiliated with a naturist/nudist organization
would not provide any more access than joining any other group,” he said. “Being dressed has not kept children
safe,” Deschenes stated in a press release later. “Those who prey on children are attracted to any place
where children can be found,” he said. don.peat@sunmedia.ca

Wed May. 05 2010 1:47:37 PM Canadian pleads guilty to running child sex
ring from ThailandThe Associated Press John Wrenshall in a handout photograph. NEWARK, N.J. —
A Canadian man pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges stemming from an international pedophile ring that investigators traced
from computer records in the U.S. to Thailand. John Wrenshall entered his plead in a Newark federal courtroom to conspiring
to engage in sex tourism and conspiring to produce child pornography, and one count of distributing the materials. The
63-year-old Wrenshall admitted, in response to a prosecutor's questions, to detailed graphic abuse of boys as young as 4 years
old. Wrenshall, a thin, bespectacled, balding man with greyish-white hair, wore a bright yellow prison jumpsuit and
told the judge that he had two graduate degrees. He then acknowledged conspiring to engage in sex tourism and soliciting
clients in the U.S. and elsewhere to visit his home, where he arranged for them to have sex with prepubescent boys from 4
to 12. He admitted to encouraging his clients to photograph, videotape, and share footage of the exploits. Assistant
U.S. Attorney Lee Vartan says authorities discovered Wrenshall was running a brothel for pedophiles in Thailand after confiscating
computers from Wayne Corliss of Union City, New Jersey. Wrenshall was extradited from Thailand after authorities found correspondence
and chat room conversations between the two men, and others. Vartan read from emails that Wrenshall acknowledged he
had sent to Corliss. "'I am ready, willing and able to be your guide,"' Vartan read from the email. "'Boys
are available here."' The emails outlined the prices for sex acts on children, and encouraged clients to bring
certain items from the U.S., including "lots of bubble bath," that Wrenshall said were hard to buy in Thailand.
Corliss, a small-time actor and former children's entertainer known for playing Santa Claus, is serving a 20-year sentence
in a New Jersey prison. His 2008 arrest was the culmination of an international manhunt. He admitted travelling to Thailand
three times from 2000 to 2002 to have sex with at least two boys, ages 6 and 9. Seven people have been arrested in
the investigation, which is ongoing, according to Vartan.
Bad Santa guilty of child porn chargesBy
TRACY McLAUGHLIN, Special to Toronto Sun Last Updated: April 21, 2010 8:01 - Daniel Walter Gyselinck, 59, pleaded guilty to possessing child porn. (QMI FILE PHOTO).
BARRIE
— With a little pot belly, long white hair and a white beard, a man who has played the part as Santa Claus pleaded guilty
to possession of thousands of images of child pornography. Daniel Walter Gyselinck, 59, played the starring role of
Santa in Barrie’s Christmas parade for the past two years, waving to hundreds of children from his glittering sleigh
in his bright red suit as he handed out treats. Standing in handcuffs beside his lawyer in a Barrie courtroom Wednesday,
he quietly said “guilty” to possession of 90,000 images of child porn as well as over 1000 video clips child porn.
He also pleaded guilty to making the images available to the public and to downloading the images and movies from his computer
on to personal CDs and DVDs. Court heard police came to his apartment door with a search warrant last June where they
found the material as well as an unusual collection of festive decorations, even though it was the middle of June. A
police video tape played in court showed Gyselinck’s apartment shelves cluttered with Christmas trinkets, hundreds of
stuffed toys, gingerbread houses, a Christmas tree and a Santa suit. “When I sit at my computer, I slip into this
dark side,” Gyselinck told police. “I don’t know why I do it.” Court heard he also told police
that it was easy to download any type of child porn he wanted off of Limewire. “Why doesn’t the government
stop making it so easily available?” he asked police. In court, police also played a sampling of the thousands
of images and videos they seized. Several show clips of adult men raping a small child. One clip shows a small child playing
in a bubble bath when suddenly a quiet, muffled male voice is heard in the background asking the child to stand up in the
tub and display her genitals. The unknowing child appears to happily obey, each time saying “cheese” with a happy
smile as she posses. Gyselinck will be sentenced May 21.

Man Accused Of Trying To Buy Boy Remains In Canadian Jail2010/03/31 | The Canadian Press A fugitive from Georgia accused of trying to buy a five-year-old boy over the Internet will remain
in a Canadian jail. Patrick Molesti, 56, appeared via videolink in Toronto for a detention hearing conducted by the
Immigration and Refugee Board. Molesti, whose real name is Patrick Lamontagne, maintained that he's innocent of the charges
but conceded he's a flight risk. An international manhunt for Molesti ended last week when he was arrested by police
at a bus station in the northwestern Ontario city of Thunder Bay. Molesti is being held in a Thunder Bay jail while
authorities determine whether he's legally allowed to be in Canada. Canada Border Services Agency has said it's likely
he'll be deported due to the charges he's facing in the United States. Molesti has been charged with criminal attempt
to commit child molestation, sexual exploitation of children and theft. The U.S. Marshals Service says a federal investigation
is underway as well as ongoing probe by the state on additional state charges. Police in Georgia said they don't believe
Molesti was in Canada in search of a child for sale. They say Molesti, a French national, likely fled to Canada because
he thought he could get to France more easily through Quebec. A government lawyer said Molesti is a citizen of France
and a resident of the U.S. Patrick Ange Molesti was an alias, the hearing was told.

molester reported living in TongaPublished On Sat Mar

2004. YORK REGIONAL POLICE Adrian
Morrow Staff Reporter Police are investigating reports that a Toronto-area fugitive
who allegedly molested a 13-year-old boy has resurfaced in the South Pacific island nation of Tonga. Hossein “John”
Marejnejad, 38, was charged with sexual assault in November 2004. At the time, he owned a convenience store in Keswick, a
small town on the shores of Lake Simcoe, in northern York Region. He was accused of assaulting the boy in his apartment over
the store and threatening to hurt him if he told anyone. Residents of Neiafu, a remote town in the Tongan archipelago, say a man with Marejnejad’s name who matches his description has been living
there for a little over a year. Mary Jane Fa told the Star that he runs a restaurant on property rented from
her family. A copy of the lease provided to the Star and dated February 10, 2009, is signed by Fa and a man named
Hossein Marejnejad. “He’s said he’s from Canada,” she says. “He’s married a Tongan
girl, and he has one kid.” Shawn Miller, a Canadian expat who owns a barbecue restaurant in Neiafu, said the man
moved with his wife and young son to Neiafu from the Tongan capital. He says the man, who goes by the name “John”,
told him he had lived in Canada and then New Zealand before coming to Tonga. At one point, Miller lent him his carpentry tools
to renovate the restaurant. “He served Indian cuisine, it was really good,” he says. “He was pretty
amicable, he seemed like a nice guy.” Calls from the Star to the restaurant were not answered. Miller’s
wife, Karie, says he used to come into the couple’s restaurant and criticize it. She says the man she knows is identical
to the one in the photos she’s seen of the fugitive. “There is absolutely no question this guy is the same
guy as on the wanted posters, unless he’s got a twin brother,” she said. York police say they are trying
to determine if Marejnejad is in Tonga. “We have received reports that he is there,” said York Regional
Police Const. Rebecca Boyd. “We have been in contact with Interpol to try and find out more.” Boyd says
York police have also spoken with officials at the Attorney-General’s office to discuss possible extradition proceedings.

an 11-year-old Armstrong, B.C., girl three years ago has been declared a dangerous offender. Paul Robert Lepage, 58,
will be held in protective custody indefinitely. Lepage was found guilty in February 2008 of luring his young

assaulted her during 36 hours of confinement. Lepage has multiple convictions dating back to the 1960's. A forensic
psychiatrist testified he would pose an extremely high risk to the community. Judge Peter Rogers agreed, labelling
him a dangerous offender in a Vernon court Monday. The designation is accompanied by an indeterminate jail sentence. "I've
spoken to the girl and her mom, and I think they're feeling that this will help with closure," Crown Counsel Howard Pontious
told CTV News. "I mean the girl has had to go through counselling now for three years. It was a horrific crime.
So I'm happy for them." The RCMP's major crimes unit is checking to see if Lepage might be linked to any other
unsolved crimes. He has been ordered to provide a DNA sample. With a report from CTV British Columbia's Kent

Press MONTREAL -- A former elementary teacher from an elite Montreal prep school
will serve at least 13 years in a Virginia jail for sex crimes involving children. Richard Doucet pleaded guilty in
May to eight charges, including reproducing and distributing child pornography, attempting to take indecent liberties with
a child and soliciting a minor for sexual activities. Stafford County court clerk Dawn Perry says the 37-year-old Doucet

Scott Connor, a former Toronto fire captain, has been found guilty of possessing child pornography. Judge
convicts ex-firefighter of possessing child pornUpdated: Fri Jun. 19
2009 10:01:28 AM
ctvtoronto.ca A former Toronto fire captain awaits sentencing after a judge skipped a Crown
prosecutor's final submissions and found the defendant guilty of possessing child pornography. On Thursday night, Justice
Anne Malloy told the court that she had found Scott Connor guilty of possessing child pornography, as well as a number of
other criminal counts that included weapons charges and a charge related to the marijuana grow operation he was running in
his Scarborough home. Right before a Crown prosecutor was about to make her final submissions, the judge informed the
court she had enough information to make a decision. Molloy said she had found Connor guilty of a number of charges
and would not accept any of the evidence he gave to the court in recent days. The judge said she will provide the court
with a statement on Sept. 16, explaining the reasons for her decision to convict Connor. At that time, she will also deliver
his sentence. The 48-year-old Connor was a fire captain who lived in a home on Copping Road, near Morningside Park,
that was raided in September 2006. Police said they found 30 hours worth of child pornography videos on his computer,
several weapons, as well as evidence that he was running a small marijuana grow operation in his home. Det. Christopher
Purchase told CTV Toronto that the judge told the court she would be "disregarding" Connor's testimony at his trial.
"She did say after the completion of the evidence that the Crown presented an overwhelming case and that she's
going to be disregarding any evidence that Mr. Connor had to offer," he said. In court, Connor testified that
he discovered the child pornography while downloading music and movies. He said he deleted what he found, including material
that was downloaded hours before his 2006 arrest. With a report from CTV Toronto's Galit Solomon |
Child Porn Charges Laid 2 Yrs. After
Man Allegedly Makes Contact With 13-Yr.-Old GirlWednesday May 20, 2009 CityNews.ca Staff A 28-year-old man is under arrest, accused of meeting
a girl half his age over the Internet and then luring her to create images of child pornography. Police
allege Derek Campbell met a 13-year-old using the website vampirefreaks.com, and convinced the youngster to pose for videos
and photos that depicted sexual situations. That was back in September 2007. When the alleged victim came forward
to a police officer in her school this month about what she says happened to her, an investigation began. Cops
found enough evidence to arrest the suspect on Monday, charging him with possession and making child pornography, sexual assault
and interference and bestiality. He'll be in Old City Hall court on Thursday morning, but cops aren't waiting
until then to continue their probe into his alleged actions. They believe there may be other victims and want anyone
who may have had contact with Campbell to call (416) 808-7467 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (416)
222-TIPS. (8477). The website the suspect is said to have used isn't accused of doing anything wrong, but it
may sound familiar. That's because its name surfaced in with connection another famous Canadian case. Vampirefreaks.com was
the site where Kimveer Gill kept a blog laying out his hatred and disgust with society. On September 13, 2006, Gill arrived at Dawson College in Montreal
armed with several weapons. By the time his rampage was finished, one woman was dead and 20 others were hurt. Gill used his final bullet to take his own life. His rants were later located on the site, providing key insights
into his possible motives for the shooting spree.

Reversal Of Fortune: "Dungeon Dad" Pleads Guilty To All Charges
Wednesday March 18, 2009
CityNews.ca Staff
Josef Fritzl may have hidden his face behind a blue binder for the past two days in an Austrian courtroom, but he couldn't
hide his guilt. And in the end, the 73-year-old standing trial for a series of horrific crimes decided not to contest the
accusations against him, pleading guilty to all charges.
The former engineer now agrees his actions led to the death of his son and that he enslaved his daughter, locking
her up in a hidden basement dungeon in the town of Amstetten for 24 years and fathering seven children with her, while telling the world she ran away to join a religious cult. Many of
the sexual attacks came in front of her kids.
The admission came one day after a lengthy video statement from Elisabeth Fritzl, who was just 18 when her father forced
her into captivity and committed repeated acts of incest on her. He admits seeing that tape helped change his mind about his
plea.
She gave birth to seven children by him and didn't see the light of day until a medical emergency last year forced one
of those offspring to the hospital - and the now 42-year-old mother emerged from her nearly quarter century captivity.
Fritzl, who had already admitted to the incest, as well as rape and forced imprisonment, calmly walked into court Wednesday
morning and reversed his former plea. "I declare myself guilty to the charges in the indictment," he told the panel
of judges, referring to his "sick behavior."
The admission of negligent homicide stems from the 1996 death of a three day old infant that the father had with his daughter.
When the twin experienced breathing problems, Fritzl refused to call in medical help, which would have revealed his secret.
Instead, the baby boy died and his dad burned the body in an incinerator to destroy the evidence.
He took three of the other children into his own home upstairs, telling his wife they were abandoned. But three others
were left in the windowless locked dungeon all their lives and had grown up never seeing daylight.
The stunning reversal ends a salacious trial that had the world riveted, and now moves onto the penalty phase. It's expected
Fritzl will receive a life sentence for his crimes.
A psychiatrist told the court the accused suffers from a dangerous personality disorder and would be a threat to society
if he were ever set free. The doctor claims the bad dad has an extreme need to control everything and everybody and while
he knew what he was doing was wrong, he was able to simply block it out.
But she believes Fritzl should serve his punishment in a psychiatric ward instead of a jail cell.
In the end the father agrees he should have tried to do something to save the ailing infant. "I don't know why I didn't
help," he told the judges. "I just overlooked it. I thought the little one would survive.
"I should have recognized that the baby was doing poorly."
With the admission of guilt, Fritzl seems to have lifted a burden off of himself. For the first time since the trial began
on Monday, he didn't hide his face, allowing cameras to catch their first clear glimpse of him since his arrest in 2008.
The sentence and the final verdict are both expected Thursday, after the defence and prosecutors give their closing statements.

83-Yr-Old. Charged With Molesting Kids In Case That Stretches Back To The 1970sTuesday February
3, 2009 CityNews.ca Staff An 83-year-old man is facing charges in a series of terrible crimes. His name is Leo Fobert
and he now lives in Innisfil. But three decades ago, in the 1970s, he was a resident of Grovedale Ave. in the Keele and 401 area. He's also lived at various other addresses in both Ontario and the rest of Canada. Cops
think he was on the move a lot because of what they accuse him of doing so long ago: befriending children in whatever area
he lived and allegedly sexually assaulting them. It's been years but cops now say they have the evidence to charge
Fobert with two counts of indecent assault on a male, buggery and two counts of gross indecency. But while investigators
think they can make their case in two instances, they allege their suspect may have been committing similar crimes as far
back as the 1960s and continuing his activity right up until the present. And they're urging any past victims
- or new ones- to let them know immediately. If you have anything to tell police, call (416)808-3105.

Dad Accused Of Holding Daughter In Dungeon For 24 Yrs. Now Facing Murder ChargeThursday
November 13, 2008 CityNews.ca Staff He's accused of imprisoning his own
daughter in a windowless dungeon for 24 years and fathering seven children by her. But now the suspect in one of the most
bizarre criminal cases in history is facing a new accusation - murder. You likely remember the story of Joseph Fritzl
(top left). He's the dad from Amstetten, Austria accused of abducting his daughter Elizabeth when she just 18, secreting her in a specially built series of rooms under
his home and leaving her and most of the subsequent kids who were born there captive for their entire lives.
Fritzl had allegedly told his family the girl ran off to be with a religious cult. The ordeal ended last April,
when one of the youngsters - now a teenager - became seriously ill and had to be taken to hospital. Three of the kids
were taken upstairs to live with the man assumed to be their father, with Fritzl telling curious relatives that Elizabeth
had left them on his doorstep and then disappeared. Three others lived with their mother in those rooms of glooms since
their birth. It's what happened to the seventh that has brought the latest charge. Fritzl has admitted one of the youngsters
died when he was just a baby and that he disposed of the body in a furnace. Prosecutors are trying to make the case that if
the infant had received treatment, he might have lived, justifying the murder count. "Despite recognizing the
baby's life-threatening situation, he deliberately decided not to intervene" and get a doctor, the 27-page indictment
reads. As it is, the imprisoned 73-year-old electrician is already facing rape, incest, false imprisonment and slavery
accusations. He has 14 days to appeal the charges. Fritzl has been found fit to stand trial, with a sensational court
case set to begin in early 2009. Elizabeth, now 42, and her children, have been taken to a care facility for counselling
and reintegration to society, a world they never knew and may have trouble relating to. T.O. Police On Hunt For High Risk Offender Found Guilty Of Crimes Against Children
Monday October 27, 2008
CityNews.ca Staff
Do you know where this man is?
If you do, Toronto Police need to know where you saw him.
His name is Shawn Thomas Fries and he's a high risk offender who allegedly hasn't been complying with the conditions of
his release. Police say Fries is likely to re-offend and may be in the Scarborough area.
"He's wanted by the Toronto Police for failing to comply with his conditions," notes P.C. Tony Vella.
"We're asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact police," he adds.
Authorities are targeting the Scarborough area because they say Fries was last seen at Scarborough Town Centre and has
ties just down the road at Ellesmere and Morningside Road.
Parents in the area are understandably shaken.
"I'm scared to even leave (my daughter)," one mom said. "I have to hold her hand, I am scared to turn my back knowing
there is somebody out there. It's just scary."
While police say they can't divulge details of any of Fries's offenses or the restrictions placed on him, CityNews.ca has
learned they involve crimes against children, and that he allegedly refused to stay away from areas where they gather.
He's believed to be wandering around the city somewhere and authorities want to put him back behind bars.
But they need to find him first.

Toronto Man Hit With More Charges In Child Porn Probe Thursday October 16, 2008 CityNews.ca Staff Police have laid additional charges against a Toronto man who's been in custody
since May 2 for allegedly possessing and making child pornography. Chun Chung Geoffrey Tang, 36, was initially
charged after police executed a search warrant at his home on Marcelline Crescent. Police
allege they recovered several images depicting child sexual abuse, and that Tang actually produced some of the images. After an extensive investigation cops also think they've found three
alleged victims from the Toronto area, and have subsequently added two counts of sexual assault to Tang's ever-expanding rap
sheet.
Police also reveal that Tang had ongoing contact with children because he worked at
Brightest Minds Video store near Kennedy and Finch since 1991, and they are worried that there could be
more victims who haven't yet come forward. At a Thursday morning press
conference, police reminded parents to keep a close eye on their kids. "Certainly
as a parent, you know, it is your responsibility to make sure that you know what your children are doing and who is being
in contact with them, and the reality is that you can never be too safe," said Det. Cst. Janelle Blackadar. On Thursday night, CityNews' Andrea Piunno met with one of Tang's former neighbours, who
said she was originally quite fond of the man. "He never gave me the impression
that he was dangerous at that time," recalls Poonam Jain. "He didn't even approach the kids in any bad manner .
he seemed like a very sweet person." Now, she's not so sure. And police
say they have plenty of reason for further doubt. "To date we have located
three (alleged) victims," Det. Cst. Blackadar added. Anyone

assaulting her. That was on October 29th, 2004. It took four years, but Palinker was convicted of all the charges against
him, including sexual assault, extortion and impersonating a police officer. But to the frustration of authorities
and most especially his victim, on the day he was supposed to be sentenced, he never showed up in court. Now cops are
trying to find him all over again. Despite his absence, he's been sentenced to three years in jail and police want
to make sure he serves every day of it. Call (416) 808-1300 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (416)

Man Accused Of Stalking 12-Year-Old At CNE
Friday September 5, 2008
CityNews.ca Staff
Does this man's face look familiar to you? He's accused of stalking a 12-year-old boy at the C.N.E. last month and
cops allege it wasn't the only incident at the annual fair.
The first time the stranger came to the attention of authorities was back on August 22nd, when cops were called about a
man who allegedly positioned himself behind the youngster and began touching him in a sexual manner on his back.
The child escaped his clutches but the 12-year-old was alarmed to turn around during his Exhibition sojourn and see the
man apparently following him.
Eight days later, another witness saw the same man carrying out the same strange behaviour at the fair, with his sights
seemingly set on another youngster.
Police were alerted and were finally able to track down a suspect. He's 62-year-old Saturnino "Nino" Alberi (top left) and
cops are anxious to know what he may have been up to over the past few weeks.
If you've seen him or come into some unexpected contact with him, they need to hear from you at (416) 808-1405.
This man was also arrested back in July 2006 on allegations of sexual assault and sexual exploitation against a 14-year-old boy in 1998. Authorities claimed the suspect
worked as a fitness trainer for several years and recruited young boys through hockey arenas.
Alberi appeared at College Park courts on Wednesday. He's been charged with sexual assault and criminal harassment.
30-Yr.-Old Child Predator Poses As 12-Yr.-Old Student For 2 YearsThursday September 11, 2008 CityNews.ca Staff Does this man look like a 12-year-old to you? Believe it or not,
he actually passed himself off as one and even enrolled in an Arizona public school. Neil Havens Rodreick II is actually
30 years old and a child predator. He used the unbelievable ruse to get close to more victims. It lasted for two years before
he was finally caught. He's pleaded guilty to seven charges, some stemming from the charade, and will now spend his
time in a far different institution - a prison cell, where he'll be for the next 7 decades. Authorities never found
that Rodreick actually molested any of his Yavapai County classmates, but they did discover a huge cache of child pornography in his home. He confessed to fraud and misdeamour
assault charges as a result of the impersonation, stemming from an incident in which he grabbed a girl's buttocks at a charter
school. The victim originally shrugged off the attack as the curious misbehaviour of a 12-year-old boy. But when cops told
her his real age, she started to cry. How did he pull off such an outrageous scam for so long? Authorities say Rodreick
enrolled in a school in 2005, continually shaving to hide any five o'clock shadow and using pancake make-up to make him appear
younger. He fooled teachers, administrators and fellow students into believing he was a boy named "Casey." The
disguise held for two years, before suspicious paperwork in a seventh grade class finally tripped him up in 2007. And
he had help. His 36-year-old cousin posed as his father, and two other men played his uncle and grandfather. All are also
under arrest and will face trial in November. Rodreick spent six years in an Oklahoma prison for lewdly propositioning
a 6-year-old boy in 1996. He won't be eligible for parole this time until he serves the full 70 years, tantamount to a life
sentence. Photo courtesy: Yavapai County Sheriff
Sex Assault Suspect In Court Monday
Monday August 11, 2008
CityNews.ca Staff
The case began with a scream.
Last week, residents near a Courtice school were ripped from their sleep by the terrified shrieks of a 12-year-old girl.
One woman immediately called police. When they arrived, the youngster claimed she had been sexually assaulted. That was the morning of August 6.
Now, five days later, a man accused of the brutal attack appeared in a Peterborough
court for a bail hearing. However, that decision was held over until Thursday. He'll stay
behind bars until then, where he's been since his arrest.
The victim was allegedly driven nearly 70 kilometres in a red van to the scene of the alleged crime, taken off the streets
while walking home from a friend's birthday party. That's the last anyone saw of her until police found her behind the high
school.
The man in question sped off when he saw the cops, but they gave chase, only giving up their hunt when it reached dangerous
speeds. The suspect was collared later in the day.
However, according to the suspect's wife, that's not what happened at all.
Natalie Tippett claims her husband called her before he was arrested to say he'd been held at gunpoint early Wednesday
and didn't know where he was. He apparently also told his wife of 12 years that he'd been carjacked the night the youth was
allegedly snatched off the streets of Peterborough.
She also said her husband told her he was in hospital getting a blood transfusion in Toronto the night of the assault.
The 12-year-old has been traumatized by the ordeal, but wasn't seriously injured.
"She is obviously under great distress, going through a very difficult time right now," said Dave Selby of Durham
Regional Police.
Stanley Tippett, 32, faces charges of abduction and sexual assault.

It was an emotional day for a man charged in connection with the abduction and sexual assault of a 12-year-old Peterborough
girl, as he made his first court appearance in relation to the case on Thursday.
Stanley James Tippett, 32, was in court after being arrested on Wednesday. He's charged with one count of sexual assault
and one count of kidnapping. He has prior convictions for harassing two women.
Dressed in an orange jumpsuit, Tippet could be seen mouthing "I love you" towards his wife. At times he put his hands on
his face and took several deep breaths.
In 1999, he told a Toronto newspaper he was a suspect in the murder of 15-year-old Sharmini Anandavel, saying police had
searched his home and car. He was not charged in connection with the case, which remains unsolved.
The 12-year-old Peterborough victim in the current case was reported missing at 1:35 a.m. on Wednesday. She had been at
a birthday party and was supposed to stay with her grandmother that night.
She was later found by police at Courtice Secondary School, about 40 minutes from Peterborough. A neighbour called police
at 2:20 a.m. after hearing screams from the schoolyard.
Police say she's recovering in hospital with "very traumatizing" but non life-threatening injuries.
His wife, Natalie Tippett, says she's shocked to hear of the charges because her husband said he had been carjacked the
night the girl went missing.
"He said they threw him out of a vehicle near Bowmanville and they walked him along railroad tracks," says Natalie Tippett,
noting she has not spoken to her husband since his arrest.
He also told her he was out late that night because he had to get a blood transfusion at a Toronto hospital, she says.
His wife says the family of seven will do its best to move forward through what will likely be another rough patch.
"I feel angry," she says, describing the past 24 hours as "a living hell."
"I want to know the truth," she says.
She explained to her oldest son that his father is facing charges related to a horrible crime, she says.
"Ryan says, 'I don't believe my dad would ever do that to a girl," says Natalie Tippett, holding a baby in her arms during
the interview.
"It just breaks my heart."
Stanley Tippett will appear in court for a bail hearing on Monday.

67-Yr.-Old Man Allegedly Taped 2 Sex Attacks On 5-Yr.-Old Girl
Monday August 11, 2008
CityNews.ca Staff
A sexual assault on a five-year-old girl is horrific enough.
Two of them is unbearable.
Taping both is unconscionable.
But that's what Toronto Police are accusing a 67-year-old man of doing, after they searched his home at Sheppard and Yonge
last Thursday.
Cops allege Mark Forbes assaulted the child on two separate occasions and contend they found the tapes of the crimes in
progress.
They allege the attacks took place on July 29th and August 4th.
But that's not all police say they found when they went behind those closed doors, asserting they also came across two
handguns, a rifle and a shotgun.
Forbes is facing 25 charges overall, ranging from sexual assault to making child pornography and unauthorized possession
of a firearm.
He'll be in court Wednesday but police are already wondering if there are other victims with an equally troubling story
to tell.

Commercial Pitchman Confesses To Child Porn Charges
Monday May 5, 2008
CityNews.ca Staff
He was once known as the spokesman for Alexander Keith's beer. But now he's become famous for something else - possessing
and distributing child pornography.
Robert Smith (top left), the actor who was the face of the brew, stepped into a Toronto courtroom on Monday in an entirely
different role - a man accused of downloading the disturbing images on his computer. Minutes later, he was typecast in the
role, admitting to two counts of child pornography and another that he made it available to others over the Internet via the
file sharing site Limewire.
Some of the images represent girls as young as 9, and many of them have since been rescued from their abuse. But their
images will forever be out there for pedophiles to look at.
Smith's wife was never aware of what her husband was up to and neither were his two young children. But they may have to
get used to not seeing their father for a while. A date for sentencing is scheduled for next Monday.
Man Charged With Sexual Assault After Attacks On Young Kids At Library And Bookstore
Thursday April 3, 2008
CityNews.ca Staff
The public library and a bookstore should be places for kids to learn and grow. But Toronto Police allege that each
of them turned into a location of terror for two young girls. They've made an arrest after the youngsters came forward
with separate accounts of a man sexually assaulting them.
One of the victims was 16, the other just 10.
Both of the incidents occurred March 6th in the Bayview and Sheppard area and both happened within a few minutes of each other. In the first, a man approached a teen around 5pm and struck up
a conversation with her. After a few minutes of gaining her trust, cops say he pounced and began attacking her.
She ran off for help and the man fled, but cops contend he didn't go far. About half an hour later, a 10-year-old was browsing
through the children's section of a nearby bookstore when the same man came up to her. This time, detectives allege he didn't
even try to initiate a dialogue and simply went after her. She cried out and by the time help arrived, he was gone.
Police were called and began probing the incidents and on Wednesday, they finally came up with a suspect. He's
41-year-old William Douglas Shorten, a Toronto resident, and he's facing a number of charges, including indecent acts, sexual
interference and sexual assault.
He made his first appearance in a Finch Ave. West courtroom on Thursday, but this case is by no means closed. Police are
worried there may be other victims and are asking any young girls with a story to tell to call them at (416) 808-3305
or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.

Police Outline Details Of Largest Child Porn Probe In Ont. History
Tuesday February 12, 2008
CityNews.ca Staff
Police outlined the details of the largest co-ordinated child porn investigation in Ontario
history during a Tuesday morning press conference. Twenty-two people have been arrested in connection with the ambitious
probe, which began in January and involved 25 search warrants in 16 communities across Ontario. A total of 73 criminal
charges have been laid. Among those accused are a woman and a young offender.
"Today's successful announcement has taken weeks of legwork by dozens of members of the provincial
strategy to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation," said O.P.P. Commissioner Julian Fantino."The most fundamental
responsibility of any society is to protect its children. Every child has a right to be nurtured and to be safe, and we as
a society have a duty to ensure that that happens."
"Child pornography is the sexual abuse of children,"
he added. "A brutal crime committed by despicable predators. Every image of
child pornography represents the irrefutable evidence of a child being brutalized and it's not just about impersonal, abstract
images."
Fantino cited the increased use of the Internet as a prevalent threat to young people, and
urged further education on how to use the technology in a safe, responsible manner.
"It is appropriate that we are here today making this announcement on Safe Internet Day, a
day recognized in 43 countries worldwide, a day designed to highlight the need to make the internet a safe and useful tool
for our children to access for both educational and personal use.
"In far too many cases the misuse of the internet continues to pose a threat to children, parents
and all law-abiding decent people in our society, including the police. The production and distribution of pornography, the
luring of young people by pedophiles for their own deviant purposes and the proliferation of internet sites where pictures
of just about every imaginable kind of abuse of children including infants can be accessed by anyone, is a major concern to
police agencies worldwide."
Inspector Dave Kimmerly admitted that the arrest of a woman in the probe was somewhat startling.
"It's certainly unique," he said. "I understand it may be the first time in recent
history in Canada that a female has been arrested (on child porn charges)."
News of the arrests came in tandem with the findings of startling O.P.P. study that revealed
more than 15,000 people in Ontario actively use their computers to distribute child pornography. The study discovered that in Canada, images involving child porn have been traced to more than 205,000 unique computer addresses.
In Ontario alone, more than 63,000 unique IP addresses have been linked to the illegal
images.
The O.P.P. say 30 percent of people who posses child pornography also sexually abuse children,
pointing to the abduction and killing of Holly Jones as a prime example of the worst case scenario. "(Michael) Briere who is now convicted of murdering Holly Jones, he in his own confession spoke about how he was viewing
child porn material, and he knew as soon as he saw Holly Jones he was going to murder her," Fantino adds.
Fantino closed out the emotional press conference by reminding all citizens of their duties
to protect children. He also had a stern warning for perpetrators, and hinted that the courts needs to take a stronger
stance against those who view, trade, or make child pornography.
"We all have a responsibility in this matter. If anyone comes across child pornography or suspects
that a child is being abused in any way, they are morally and ethically obligated to report the abuse to the police.
"The provincial strategy will stop at nothing to hunt down child predators and eliminate the
threat they pose to our children and our communities. Fair warning to pedophiles: You can run but you can't hide. And sooner
or later, we will identify you. We will arrest you and we'll bring you to justice.
"Now, let's see what the courts do with these cases."

Toronto Man Faces Charges In Connection With Sexual Assaults Of Three GirlsFriday November
9, 2007 CityNews.ca Staff It's a disturbing case dating back 16 years, and now
police have arrested and charged a suspect in connection with four separate sexual assaults. Toronto Police contend
three young girls, aged seven to nine, were sexually assaulted between last November and this past August. In late
August they arrested 64-year-old Pedro Briceno and charged him with three counts of sexual assault, three counts of sexual
interference and two counts of invitation to sexual touching. Investigators allege the incidents occurred in the suspect's
home. The Toronto man apparently worked as a professional newspaper photographer where he had regular contact
with children. A new twist to the case came in recent weeks when a woman came forward claiming Briceno had
sexually assaulted her at a community centre 16 years ago. As a result of that allegation Briceno was charged with three more
offences including sexual assault. Detectives worry there may be more victims in this case and they're asking anyone
with information to contact investigators at the Toronto Police 11 Division Youth Bureau at 416-808-1105
or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).

are trying to find out if there's anything else they need to know about his activities. Mejid is known to have volunteered
at several religious houses of worship in Mississauga and Toronto where kids might be present. And he also taught at a number

was obscured by a "swirl pattern", put on by some photo software using a computer. Last week, experts were able
to undo that electronic disguise and put out a plea for his identity. "His face had been twisted under a digital manner and an expert working in Germany
managed to untwist the face and that's the effect that you see," explains Interpol's Mick Moran. "So we got a clearer
picture of the man who's seen in the images." Late Monday, we told you how those clues led them to finally
put a name to the face, when Neil suddenly left his job as an English teacher in South Korea and turned up on an airport security camera after landing
in Bangkok (top left). An all-points-bulletin is out for him and now that Thai police have his name, passport number
and other vital stats, most don't think he'll be able to avoid capture for long. And that's when this already sordid tale
will move back home. Police here expect the suspect to be extradited and returned to Canada once he's caught and any
subsequent trial could be held on these shores. "Because we now have the laws in place to prosecute and because the offender
has been identified as a Canadian, he'll be brought back to Canada to face the penalties here," agrees Kim Scanlan of
the Toronto Police Child Exploitation Unit. Detectives have been trying to learn his name for at least three years, but it
wasn't until Interpol took the rare step of making his face public that the case came together. And whatever you may
think about what Neil is accused of doing, there are others who might see him as some kind of hero. "Sometimes what we
find in some of the bigger investigations or the more complicated investigations is that there's a real status among people
who collect sexual abuses of children," confirms Scanlan. "It may elevate their status within certain communities." Neil's community
in Maple Ridge, B.C. isn't likely to be one of them. It's said he attended the University of British Columbia there,
but left this country five years ago to teach English overseas. His family hasn't heard from him since he departed
for South Korea in August. A student in the city of Gwangju says he suddenly stopped showing up for class last week and
disappeared. He describes him as a well-liked instructor who also had a temper. Now his brother is pleading for his
sibling to surrender and put this behind him. "My mother is devastated and the family is in shock," 30-year-old
Matthew Neil reveals, after the Mounties came asking about him. "We're co-operating with RCMP and Interpol.
We're hoping this comes to a quick close." Neighbours simply can't believe the allegations being made against the
man they know. "Very shocked and surprised," confirms Rick Pennykid, the landlord of the home where the Neils live.
"He was just a regular person, like nothing stood out." But investigators are hoping his image does. His picture
has been handed out to border guards across the region and there's no place he can go unobserved. - If hunting suspected
pedophiles in Thailand sounds like a headline you've read before, it is. Last year, another former English teacher who spent
time in South Korea was the subject of worldwide attention when John Mark Karr confessed to killing little JonBenet Ramsay in Colorado in 1996. But DNA evidence showed the American couldn't have committed
the crime and the reasons behind his stunning admission were never clear.

Police Make Child Porn Bust
Thursday September 20, 2007
CityNews.ca Staff
The explosion of computer technology in recent years has coincided with an increase in sexual deviants roaming the lawless
lands of cyber space. On Thursday, police believe they removed one such character from the online landscape.
Cops accuse Neil Schneider, 58, (pictured) of downloading and distributing child pornography on the internet.
A search warrant was executed at his home in the Markham Road/Eglinton Avenue area of the city.
Police say items seized during the search have led them to believe the suspect may have had contact with young children
and they're asking anyone with information to call them at 416-808-8500, or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
Man faces 11 charges, including making child porn
toronto.ctv.ca
Toronto police have charged a 51-year-old man with 11 sex offences, including several charges of sexual assault and making
child pornography.
Police made the arrest after a nine-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted over an 18-month period between 2005
and 2006.
The accused is a convicted child sex offender, police said.
In 1994 in Brampton, he was found guilty of two counts of sexual interference, and in 1987 in Belleville, he was convicted
of indecent assault and sexual assault.
Charged is Randolph Bartley, who is also known as "Randy" or "Gordie."
Bartley worked at Star Coin Laundromat at Dufferin Street and Glencairn Avenue.
Investigators believe there may be other victims, and are urging anyone whose children have had contact with the accused
to contact police.
Bartley is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 14.
Church Volunteer Accused Of Molesting Young GirlMonday
July 30, 2007 CityNews.ca Staff A volunteer at a west-end Mormon church has been charged
with molesting a child, and police believe there could be more victims out there. Sixty-four-year-old Melvin MacNeil
(pictured) is accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl over a period of two years. MacNeil was helping to coordinate
missionary work in Toronto, and police say he had regular access to children at the church on Ossington, north of Bloor. "It's
believed there may be other victims and anyone with information is asked to contact 14 division, Youth Family Services at
416-808-1405," said Det. Const. Chu Chang. "These are very serious charges for an 8-year-old victim, truly
innocent." Those who knew MacNeil were shocked to hear of the charges. "He was a very nice man, I find
that hard to believe," remarked church member Laurie Still. "Very amicable, very nice person." The
accused is currently in police custody and a bail hearing has been scheduled for August 27.
Victims Outraged Attacker Will Be Released From Jail Despite Conviction
Friday July 13, 2007
CityNews.ca Staff
He was convicted of molesting young children, sometimes for years. And after waiting for justice for such a long time,
his victims believed they would finally see him locked behind bars for the next decade. Instead to the shock and horror of
those he so terribly wronged, George Stea is expected to walk out of prison on Saturday a free man.
How can that be? Stea is appealing his conviction on the charges and a judge has agreed to release him during that process.
Those who were cruelly harmed by the man can't fathom the logic behind the stunning move. "Unbelievable," one victim,
now a young woman, exhorts. "Unbelievable that this man has been let back out on the streets. That he's been allowed to have
bail." We can't tell you her name to protect her identity. But her pain transcends any moniker.
She claims Stea began abusing her when she was just nine years old. It didn't end until she turned 16. And she wasn't the
only one. Stea was also found guilty of assaulting other kids ten years ago. His conviction brought some small amount of closure
to them. But his release brings no small amount of outrage. "I thought it was over," another of his victims fumes. "It will
never be over. "I am really, really upset."
Others who suffered at Stea's hands cried when the judge announced his decision. "I feel completely depleted," the first woman
concedes. "I just feel like crying." And she may feel that way for a while. Stea's bail is just $50,000 and it could be 3-6
months before his appeal is even heard.
'High-Risk' Sexual Offender Back On T.O. StreetsFriday June 15, 2007 CityNews.ca
Staff He was known to them as "Uncle Art", a friendly guy who took them on outings all
over the GTA and bought them treats and presents. But he took far more than he gave, plying two young boys with
sleeping pills to get what he really wanted - and now a convicted pedophile is back on the streets of the GTA. Toronto Police took the unusual step of warning the public about Clarence Dean Friday, after his release from a three-year sentence
in the pen the day before. The 68-year-old has undergone therapy for sex offender treatment before, but it hasn't worked
and cops insist he's at a 'high risk to re-offend.' Dean regularly took two young boys on outings in the community,
buying them treats and letting them stay at his apartment on weekends. But cops say when the youngsters were just six years
old, he drugged them and committed repeated sexual offences on them. It lasted until both were 13. As is always the
case in these kinds of cases, authorities aren't able to say just where the man is staying, and are asking parents to
be aware of his possible presence in their neighbourhood. He's under a number of restrictions he has to abide by if he's going
to stay on the streets. - Reporting weekly to police
- No contact with his prior victims
- Not to attend
a public park, public swimming area or community centre where there are people under the age of eighteen including day-care
centres, school grounds, playgrounds or arcades

Convicted Pedophile Charged AgainThursday May 24, 2007 His name is Donald Mumford and if it sounds familiar, it's because he's been in the public eye
before. The 53-year-old convicted pedophile has been charged with aggravated assault endangering life after an incident
in an east end thrift store. Cops say Mumford, who is HIV positive, was a volunteer at the shop when he befriended a mother that was a frequent customer. Police accuse him of using the woman
to get to her child, and attacking the seven-year-old while he was babysitting him. It would appear from the charges
that Mumford may have used extreme coercion to ensure silence. Among the allegations he's facing are threatening death and
threatening bodily harm. It's the latest chapter in a story we first brought you in 2001, when the convicted child
molester was released to the Keele Centre halfway house after serving just two-thirds of a five-year sentence for sexually
assaulting an eight-year-old Toronto boy. He'd also been found guilty of assaulting three other young males between 1985 and
1997. A year later, he was released and settled in a neighbourhood filled with children and four public schools - the
Queen and Roncesvalles area, an act that outraged parents. His M.O. was always the same - assume a position of trust with a family then take
advantage of the most vulnerable. As part of his release conditions, he was under a lifetime ban to keep far away from
children. But this latest arrest suggests he may not have complied with those orders. Mumford will make his first court appearance
on these new charges May 31, but police fear there may be other victims that haven't come forward. If you think your child
may have had contact with this man, call police at (416) 808-7267.
Meanwhile, doctors are keeping a close eye on the seven-year-old in this case. He's tested negative for HIV, but they'll
be watching him to ensure he stays healthy.
Toronto Arrest Leads To Rescue Of Five Kids From Sex Abuse In U.S.Wednesday May
16, 2007 "I'm just really happy I've been exonerated on the first charge and I hope the
other two will follow." Those were the words of 26-year-old Matthew Hughes when authorities dropped a charge of sexual interference against him last December. But his other hopes would definitely not come to pass. Toronto Police, acting in concert
with U.S. authorities, have laid a range of new charges against the GTA resident, whose alleged crimes stretch from California
to Canada and involved everyone from local authorities to the U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security. Hughes first came to the attention of the law when a California woman chatting with him online thought she saw a
child being abused in the background. She contacted officials in the Golden State and they called cops here. They arrested Hughes on child porn charges, but withdrew
one of the accusations when it turned out the attack was on videotape and was being shown by a third party. But the law became
aware of Hughes and kept digging. Now, four months later, he's back in the spotlight and back in court, after an operation
called "Project Camelot" monitored thousands of online users and tens of thousands of pages of Internet chat logs. That led them back to Hughes, who's
now facing additional charges, including distributing and possessing child pornography, invitation to sexual touching and
sexual interference. But this case has had an added benefit that will likely change the lives of all involved. Cops
in the U.S. have arrested seven other people across the country and saved five children they say were being sexually abused
by pedophiles. More arrests are possible. Hughes turned himself in to police here on Wednesday morning. He was in court
on the new charges a few hours later. How to report Internet child abuse and child porn: Toronto How to report Internet child abuse and child porn: Peel Teach your kids about Internet safety: Government of Canada
Suspect In Drug Sex Assault Of 12-Yr. Old Missing
Friday May 4, 2007
Just one day after revealing shocking details about the alleged sex assault and drugging of a 12-year-old girl, cops are back out looking for one of the accused. Even veteran officers were having trouble dealing with the disgusting
details of the case. They allege six men came to a drug house in the Rexdale Blvd. and Hwy. 27 area over the course
of a year and attacked the developmentally delayed youngster, after forcing crack cocaine on her.
Her 42-year-old mother is also accused of standing by and watching it happen, and she's facing charges, as well. But one
of the accused who was released on bail has disappeared. Nineteen-year-old Radcliffe Parchment failed to show up for a court
appearance Friday morning. A bench warrant has been put out for his arrest and cops are back on the hunt for him.
Police admit they're incensed with the alleged actions of those involved. "I think we're all outraged is a good word
to say that these sort of things are taking place," Supt. Ron Taverner intones. "In this day and age, you know, this shouldn't
be happening. It shouldn't happen in our society."
The youngster remains in the custody of the Children's Aid Society.
List of suspects and charges:
1) Harold Cover, 55, of Mississauga: Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Invitation to Sexual Touching and Trafficking
in a substance held out to be Cocaine
2) Radcliffe Parchment, 19, of Toronto: Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference and Invitation to Sexual Touching
3) Muralee Balasubramaniam, 50, of no fixed address: Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Weapons Dangerous and Assault

Disturbing New Charges Laid After Camera Found Stuffed In Child's Teddy BearWednesday May 2, 2007 He's accused of using one of the most innocent symbols of youth for a nefarious purpose. New charges
have been laid against a Bowmanville man after police discovered a secret camera allegedly lodged inside a child's teddy bear
(like the one pictured in the file photo at left.) The story of Ian Matthew Dean starts last weekend, when cops arrested
the 24-year-old on suspicion of having innappropriate relationships with two girls under the age of 12. They'd first
spotted him talking to a 17-year-old female in an Oshawa park and confronted him minutes later. He told police he had
a handgun and then began struggling with Durham cops, who finally managed to subdue him and take him into custody. They
later discovered the weapon was only a pellet gun. But it raised their suspicions and detectives soon got a search
warrant to raid his home. That's where they allegedly discovered a number of computers and tapes they say contained
footage of the 24-year-old physically assaulting some minors. They charged him with sexual assault and sexual interference
and locked him up as their probe into his activities continued. Their hard work paid off, when they came across cameras
allegedly hidden in the room of one of his suspected victims. One of the unblinking eyes was apparently found inside
a teddy bear, which cops contend was capable of being operated by remote control from a long distance away. "The
teddy bear, the eyes actually were the lens of the camera, and this particular camera could be operated from a remote site,"
explains Sgt. Paul McCurbin. Cops also claim to have found a high tech wristband capable of recording any images
sent back through those secreted lenses. Their contention - he was videotaping his victims even as their
parents and guardians were standing nearby. The alleged victims were three and 11 years old. They've now
slapped additional charges on Dean, including possessing and making child porn and voyeurism. Neighbours
can't believe what they're hearing. "It's a big shock. I'm devastated," admits a resident named Mike. "Nice
kid, quiet. Very, very friendly," echoes Jack Hampsey. "Couldn't ask for better neighbours. I was totally,
totally shocked." "It's really close to home," echoes Theresa, who also lives near the accused. "It's
too close to home." As disturbing as this case already is, detectives are bracing for more. The accused was
active with the Salvation Army in Clarington and authorities are worried there may be additional victims that they
- and some parents - don't even know about. The charity is reeling from the news and was quick
to distance itself from Dean. "We are shocked and horrified by these allegations, and our primary focus continues
to be the welfare of the children involved," assures Pastor Miriam Stevens. And they're asking wary caregivers
to check on any toys the suspect may have given out, to ensure there's nothing more than stuffing inside them. If
you have anything new to tell cops about this disturbing case, call (905) 579-1520 ext. 5363 or Durham Regional
Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. Meanwhile, Dean remains in jail. He'll get his first shot at bail next

StreetBeat - April 24 - Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting 13-Yr.-Old
Tuesday April 24, 2007
An altercation between a young girl and a 50-year-old man inside a convenience store has led to charges of sexual assault.
The incident took place Tuesday afternoon at Parliament and Wellesley when a 13-year-old went inside the shop and got into
some kind of dispute with a man.
She wasn't hurt, but used her street smarts to flee the scene, heading to Winchester St. Public School for help.
Police were called and took a report claiming that the child was inappropriately touched by the suspect.
"Every one of us who are parents train our children not to talk to
strangers, but also to report when incidents like this occur. She did the right thing by going right back to school and making
that complaint, and of course the school took immediate action," said St. Sgt. Randy Carter.
Inderjit Singh has been charged with one count of sexual assault and another of sexual interference.
He'll make his first court appearance on both charges on Wednesday.
New Charges Laid In Alleged Daycare Sex AssaultsFriday April 20, 2007 It's the news parents and police both feared. Authorities have now laid a new charge against
a volunteer at a daycare centre, after an investigation into his activities at a city run facility. Paul Thomas was
already facing allegations that he sexually assaulted two tots between the ages of two and five years old who had been left
at Blevins Child Care sometime between April 2006 and this year. He was in court on Thursday facing the charge,
as police continued to investigate his activities. It appears they found enough evidence to add a third alleged victim
to the list, and the 19-year-old has now been slapped with additional counts of sexual assault and sexual interference. The
city insists it's working with police on the allegations, and maintains it tries to carefully screen applicants so there are
no questions about their activities or their proclivities. "Staff, students on placement, and formal volunteers
undergo criminal background checks before they are permitted to interact with children," a statement reads. "The
individual, who was charged last Sunday, does not have a criminal record ... "It is the city's hope that the alleged
actions of one individual do not diminish the excellent and caring work of both staff and volunteers, some of whom include
parents." The city claims it's tried to get in touch with parents to reassure them their kids are safe, but some
aren't so sure. Parents were horrified when the news broke earlier this week that the worker had been charged. They complain they weren't told about what happened
and many have since threatened not to leave their kids at Blevins anymore. Thomas will be back before a judge
at College Park courts on the new charges on Monday. Meanwhile, police are still looking into anything else he may
have been up to. If you have a story to tell them, call (416) 808-5127.

Two Men Charged In Separate Alleged Incidents Of Young Teens Forced To Become Prostitutes
Friday April 20, 2007
They're accused of the kind of crimes that infuriate both police and the general public.
Two Toronto men have been charged in separate incidents involving young girls being lured into prostitution.
Their alleged victims - two teenagers.
Police claim the first suspect, a baby-faced looking man named Bobby Wilson (left), was introduced to his alleged 14-year-old
victim through a friend and supposedly acted as her pimp and her teacher into the illicit world of the sex trade.
They believe he instructed her on how much to charge, arranged for her "clients" and kept her supplied with a steady steam
of drugs, ranging from coke and crack to Ecstasy.
The 26-year-old Wilson is facing a slew of accusations, including procurement, living off the avails of prostitution and
assault.
The other case involves a man two years younger than the first suspect and a girl who's only 15.
Cops contend Ottis Quashie Thompson (top right) met his alleged victim at a shopping mall and talked her into
walking the streets. The accuse him of forcing her to work at specific times on specific corners and beating her up when she
didn't come back with enough money.
He's facing charges similar to White.
Cops are now wondering if either man has approached anyone else and allegedly schooled them on the shadowy profession.
If you have information detectives should know, call them at (416) 808-7468.
Thompson has a date before a judge on Monday, but White will be cooling his heels in jail for the next few days. He's not
scheduled to make his first court appearance on the charges until Wednesday.
Art Instructor Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 13-Yr.-Old GirlTuesday April 17, 2007 It's the kind of breach of trust allegation that sends shivers up the spines of parents - a person
they left their child with being accused of sexual assault. It's the charge facing an instructor at the Toronto Academy
of Art on Midland Ave. Police were called on Saturday about a man allegedly having inappropriate contact
with a 13-year-old girl. Cops spent the weekend checking the story and by Monday, believed they had enough evidence
to arrest the suspect they contend was responsible. Sixty-five year-old Chung-Kwong Cheung of Toronto was brought into
42 Division around 9:20pm Monday night. He's facing charges of sexual assault and sexual interference. He made his
first appearance in an Eglinton Ave. courtroom on Tuesday morning. Now cops are wondering if there are other victims
out there who have yet to come forward. They're urging anyone else with a story to tell to call them at (416)
808-4266.
Police released this image of the suspect in connection with the alleged sexual assault.
Man surrenders in hospital sexual assault case
toronto.ctv.ca
A man has surrendered in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 91-year-old patient at a Toronto hospital on Thursday.
Following media coverage of the case, the suspect turned himself in to 54 Division on Friday afternoon, police said.
The suspect is accused of groping and trying to kiss the bedridden female patient at Toronto East General Hospital on Thursday
morning.
Police said when the senior awoke in her bed, the man was standing beside her. He identified himself as a new doctor and
then began his attack.
The victim pushed the man away and alerted the nurses' station about the incident.
Hospital security briefly detained the suspect, but let him go because they were unaware of the incident.
Staff had alerted security after they saw a suspicious man wandering in and out of patient rooms. Employees were also unaware
the 91-year-old had been assaulted.
The man, who was intoxicated, was escorted out of the building,
He was also believed to be wandering the halls of a nearby school the night before.
Salvatore Scrofano, 46, of Toronto, is charged with sexual assault and two counts of break-and-enter.
He is to appear at the Old City Hall courts on Saturday.
Officers Target Online Sex Preds Toronto police are posing as underage girls and cruising
online chatrooms in a desperate attempt to collar sexual predators. Through conversations
online, police have nabbed about a hundred predators lurking online in the past three years, and that's just in Toronto
alone. The most recent arrest came just a few days ago when 31-year-old Ricardo Arrojado was charged on
five counts, including two counts of luring a child under 14, and invitation to sexual touching. Det.
Cst. Warren Bulmer explained the process of nabbing predators. "They have to suggest
a date and a time and if that interest is there then we send a team out, and when they show up an arrest
is made," he explained.
Police Seek More Victims After 2 Woman Allegedly Groped In Same Apt. Building
Thursday May 17, 2007
There's an old law enforcement saying that a criminal always returns to the scene of the crime. That's what Toronto
Police allege the man they've arrested at a North York apartment building did, and now they're on the hunt for other victims.
Two weeks ago, they received a call from a 22-year-old woman waiting in an elevator at a Jane and Sheppard area complex. She claims a man appeared, began talking to her and then started to touch her. She pulled away from him
and left the building.
A week later, cops took another report that seemed eerily identical. This time, it was a 32-year-old female who was inside
the lift when a man on his way up began what seemed like a friendly conversation. He suddenly leaned over and allegedly began
touching her, while she raised her arms to defend herself. Fortunately, the doors opened and she scampered away from him.
Police began looking for a suspect and found one, arresting 51-year-old Najman Jarjis. He's been charged with two counts
of sexual assault and made a Thursday court appearance. But detectives are convinced there may be other women who experienced
the same thing and they need to talk to them. Call (416) 808-3104 if you have something to tell them.

Woman Charged With Sexual Assault Toronto Police released the picture of a woman charged with sexual assault Thursday
because they say she didn't tell her sexual partners about her HIV status and believe there may be other victims out there. The
26-year-old from Hamilton was arrested on Sunday and police are alerting the public of her case. They allege she deliberately
withheld her important health information in order to have sex with men she met in bars in and around the GTA. Detectives
say Robin Lee St. Clair frequented bars in Hamilton, Brantford and Toronto on a regular basis and had sex with men she met
at those establishments. She was diagnosed with HIV four years ago. St. Clair deliberately failed to tell one Toronto
man about her HIV-status, according to police, and allegedly did the same to other men in order to have sex with them,
often unprotected. Authorities are urging anyone who's had sex with her to seek medical attention immediately. "From
what we've learned, she will disclose it sometimes and she won't disclose it on other times," Det. Joseph De Lottenville
said Thursday. St. Clair appeared in court on Monday. If you had sexual contact with her or have any information
that could help investigators, contact 32 Division at (416) 808-3204 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
Toronto Animator Guilty Of Having Sex With 13-Yr.-Old
Wednesday March 21, 2007
A Toronto animator who
runs a company called "Evil Clown Animation" has been convicted of having sex with a 13-year-old girl and could face a 14-year
jail sentence.
Thirty-seven-year-old Michael Dobson was found guilty of four counts of sexual interference
after having a five-month relationship with a 13-year-old girl in 2002.
"It took a lot of courage for this young woman to come forward with these allegations. She
spent most of her teenage years dealing with this court case and these incidents," said Crown Attorney Cara Sweeny.
"I know that she is relieved and pleased to have some closure in this matter, and that's certainly
what this verdict is for her."
Currently the legal age of consent in Canada is 14 years old. Dobson met the young girl when she was
only 12.
Despite her youth, the judge took note of her maturity.
"This young lady is 13 going on 19. I don't condone his behaviour in any respect. I found she was precocious beyond her years," he said during his ruling.
Dobson will be sentenced on May 18th.
Cops Arrest Man For Allegedly Showing Child Porn To Kids In Eaton Centre
Wednesday March 14, 2007
Normally, pedophiles operate undercover, in the dark recesses of their own fantasies and behind closed doors.
But Toronto Police allege a suspect they arrested this weekend was more open about his activities. And they fear other
children may have been exposed.
It started just before 9pm Saturday when cops were called to the McDonald's in the Eaton Centre. They'd received complaints
that a man was allegedly showing young kids pictures featuring child pornography.
They allege he wasn't even trying to hide what he was doing and that other patrons could clearly see what
was going on.
An alarmed customer called police who immediately arrested a suspect at the mall.
His name is Earl Joseph Robert Maillet and he's facing a variety of charges, including possession of child pornography.
But like most of these terrible stories, the real investigation only begins after the arrest. Cops say the 44-year-old
worked as a general contractor, which would have given him access to a large number of homes.
And they wonder if there were any other children he came into contact with on those jobs.
They're looking for witnesses to the alleged incident on Saturday. And they're asking anyone who may have anything
else to tell them to call (416) 808-7361.
Maillet will appear in the Old City Hall courts on Thursday.

However, the 39-year-old Battersea, Ont. resident still faces six other charges of sexual exploitation. Those charges involved
three young boys and one young girl.
The victims were between 14 and 15 when the alleged offenses occurred. The date range for those alleged offense is set
between 1995 and 2001.
Crown prosecutor Adam Zegouras told a court in Napanee that senior Crown lawyers made the decision after reviewing the
evidence.
They decided there was insufficient evidence that Frost was in a position of trust or authority" when the alleged attacks
occurred, he said.
The assault charge has been withdrawn because it's not as serious as the other offences, would have to be tried separately,
and would not be in the "public interest" to purse the charge right now, Zegouras said.
Frost has previously proclaimed his innocence on all the charges. The Crown will present its evidence before a judge at
a preliminary inquiry scheduled for May.
Frost became notorious as the object of a murder-for-hire plot by Mike Danton, a former client and former NHL player now
serving time in prison.
In Dec. 2005, Frost resigned as an NHL player agent. He had a small client list.

Child Porn Arrest In Mississauga
Saturday February 10, 2007
A 54-year-old Mississauga man who police say was once actively involved in boys' baseball and hockey programs is facing
child porn charges.
A tip from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre led Peel Police to the suspect. Authorities executed a search
warrant at his home earlier this week and he's accused of downloading disturbing images from a child porn website over a month-long
period.
Terrence Reeves is facing three counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of accessing child porn.
Police say the suspect used to live in Woodstock, Ont. where he was involved in boys' baseball and hockey programs dating
back to the 1980s.
Investigators are urging anyone who may have information regarding the accused to contact them at (905) 453-2121,
ext. 3490 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Feb. 7 - StreetBeat - Sex Assault Arrest
Wednesday February 7, 2007 A 57-year-old
man is facing some disturbing charges in connection to alleged incidents involving children in his east end apartment building
and police fear there may be other victims that have yet to come forward. Harry Doucette is accused of abusing two young
girls in his building in the Dawes Road and Danforth area. He's charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual
interference and invitation to sexual touching. Police are urging parents whose children may have had contact with the
suspect to contact them at (416) 808-5400 or call Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
Prosecutors Allege Kidnapped Boys Repeatedly Sexually Assaulted During Captivity
Tuesday February 6, 2007
It's the scenario you hoped wasn't true, but feared had happened.
According to charges filed in a Missouri court, the man allegedly responsible for kidnapping two young boys off the streets
of a St. Louis suburb repeatedly molested them while he held them captive.
Michael Devlin appeared before a judge on Monday, charged with 69 counts of forcible sodomy.
The 41-year-old pizzeria manager was arrested last month, when a 13-year-old disappeared after getting off a school bus
just seconds from his home. Ben Ownby would later be found in Devlin's apartment, after cops spotted a suspicious truck believed
used in the abduction.
But authorities also discovered something in that same residence that stunned the world - a now-15-year-old boy named Shawn
Hornbeck, missing for more than four years.
For weeks, the public has wondered about what happened to the elder lad, who told police he was 'terrorized' and made compliant
during his time in captivity.
And if the court allegations are true, we now have a better understanding of what form some of that terror took.
Prosecutors allege Devlin attacked Ownby 17 times, with court documents showing the violations happened four times for
each of the days the youngster was held.
They say he did the same thing to Hornbeck at least 56 times, most during the first month the boy was taken and at least
once every month thereafter until both were found on January 12th.
Prosecutors allege Devlin used a gun to take the first child hostage.
"Devlin acknowledged committing these acts," claims St. Louis county prosecutor Robert McCulloch.
Some of the evidence includes interviews with the boys themselves. Hornbeck has not spoken publicly about his ordeal and
despite appearances on several big U.S. TV talk shows, may never choose to do so.
But he's said to be willing to testify against his alleged abuser when the case goes to trial. "I think he's committed
to justice, as painful as it might be," Hornbeck family lawyer Scott Sherman assures.
Devlin has pleaded not guilty to the kidnapping charges. If he's convicted of the sodomy allegations, he could go away
for a very long time. Each count is punishable by life
Community In Shock After Reverend Arrested In Child Porn Raid
Friday February 2, 2007
For the second straight day, a man of the cloth has been accused of a terrible crime involving children.
Toronto Police have arrested a reverend who represents the St. Andrew's Parish of the Ontario Old Roman Catholic Church,
after allegedly discovering child pornography in his possession.
Cops contend they found a series of disturbing videos and pictures involving youngsters at 65-year-old Frederick Dunleavy's
Bleeker St. residence on Thursday.
"Members of the Toronto Police Service received information that Frederick Dunleavy was in possession of child pornography,"
relates Det. Cst. Amy Bjerknes. "Further to this allegation, we commenced an investigation."
They aren't saying yet how Dunleavy came to their attention, but they are concerned about what they claim to have found
in his home.
"During the search warrant, videos and still images of child pornography were seized. The children in the images range
in age from 5 years old to 17 years old."
St. Andrew's Parish, which has no affiliation with the Roman Catholic Church, is dedicated to helping the poor, the disabled
and the homeless, and is celebrating its 50th anniversary in the city of Toronto in May of this year.
Neighbours of the religious figure are shocked to hear he's been detained.
"He looked [like] a quiet guy," reflects Stan Evans. "I mean, you'd never think he'd [allegedly] do that. And a reverend?
That's not good, you know."
Cally Specht is sick of hearing about these kinds of stories. "Yet another clergyman has been arrested for child porn?"
she retorts. "This is getting ridiculous!"
Dunleavy and his congregation rent out the chapel of a Bloor and Sherbourne St. church but a volunteer says he
left the building six months ago.
In the meantime, cops are interested in finding out if this is an isolated incident or if there are victims that may have
more information to tell them.
Dunleavy is scheduled to appear at the College Park Courts on March 20th.
His arrest follows Thursday's collar of an 89-year-old priest for a historic sex assault.
Vernon Larthur Hirtle, who's still actively involved with the Baptist Church, is accused of repeatedly attacking a young girl when she had contact
with him between 1987 and 1990.
His court date has yet to be announced.
89-Year-Old Pastor Arrested For Sex Assault
Thursday February 1, 2007
He's an old man. He's a religious man. And he may be a troubled man.
Toronto Police have arrested an 89-year-old pastor and charged him with a historic sexual assault.
Cops allege Vernon Larthur Hirtle, who's still actively involved with the Baptist Church, repeatedly attacked a young girl
when she had contact with him between 1987 and 1990.
Investigators claim the attacks started when the child was just ten and continued for the next three years.
Detectives maintain the accused was a good friend of the family involved and even assisted them with some
immigration issues.
The Mississauga resident has been a pastor since the 1940s and worked in a variety of locations across this province, as
well as in Nova Scotia.
Because of his long association with various congregations, cops are wondering if there are any other stories about Hirtle
that they need to hear. If you have one to tell, call the Sex Crimes Unit at (416) 808-7474.
A court date for the suspect is pending.
Suspect In School Sex Assault May Have Terrorized Another Woman Minutes Earlier
Wednesday January 24, 2007
It now appears the man suspected of assaulting a seven-year-old girl in a school washroom may have confronted and terrorized
another woman just minutes before he allegedly entered the High Park Centennial Montessori School on Tuesday afternoon.
An employee at a medical arts building in the Royal York and Queensway area was taken by surprise when she went to the
basement to check out something strange in the washroom.
"She found somebody in the washroom sitting with a bottle of wine beside him," recalls pharmacist Pauline Kurkjian, who
works in the building. "So he grabbed her with a peeling knife. She was scared ... she was screaming for help. But he
locked the door and wouldn't let her out."
The woman wasn't assaulted but he detained her until her screams alerted co-workers. When help arrived, the man
fled.
Not long after, the seven-year old girl told her teacher a stranger had sexually assaulted her at the school. The
campus is about ten minutes from the scene of the first incident.
Two parents and a school bus driver are credited with spotting the suspect and hauling him down until police arrived.
Officials with the private educational institution spent the day tightening security at the campus.
The owner remains stunned by what happened at a place he always considered safe for his students. He believes the intruder
came in through a temporarily unlocked back entrance.
"All the doors in the school are always locked all day. The only time that back door is open
is at 3:15 to facilitate parents coming into the school to pick up children," explains Brent Lisowski. "Somehow
or another this gentleman snuck into the school and into the girl's washroom.
"We don't know how it could happen because the school at that time is always with staff in
the hallways, parents in the hallways. There are a lot of people around. You know, just one of those things that is very disturbing
and upsetting."
From now on staff will be guarding the door whenever it's open. And everyone will be keeping a closer eye peeled for anyone
who doesn't belong.
Parents are incensed by the attack but are staying true to their school.
"They've done so many good things, and I'm surprised it's happened," admits Richard Attard. "Like everybody knows everybody
here, so we're all wondering how somebody got in here.
"I think the school is a pretty good school and they are extremely careful with the kids, but I think with some things
we can't prevent," adds Adriana Carvalhal.
A psychologist was on hand at the campus as the kids returned Wednesday morning to help them deal with their fears over
the event. A meeting will be held in the evening for parents still concerned about safety.
The victim was able to tell a teacher what happened to her and police were called. An instructor and a school bus
driver spotted someone who didn't belong on the grounds and held him until police arrived.
The suspect has now been identified as Nicholas Finelli. Cops held off releasing his name or his picture so the woman in
the medical building could try and I.D. him in a line-up.
He made a brief court appearance on Wednesday and will be back before
the bench on Friday for a bail hearing. He's facing nine charges - and police believe he may have been involved in a third
attack.
They want to hear from anyone who knows what Finelli was doing on Monday and Tuesday.
The Grade One victim was checked out at the Hospital for Sick Children and released back to her parents. She remained
at home on Wednesday recovering from her frightening ordeal.

Some Charges Dropped Against Accused In Online Child Abuse Case
Friday December 8, 2006
A disturbing cross-border case of alleged child abuse broadcast online has become a more complex investigation
resulting in some charges against a suspect in Toronto being dropped.
The story began late last month when a woman in Woodlake, California, apparently a sex worker, called police alleging the
man she was chatting with online assaulted a young girl live on a webcam.
California cops launched an investigation, which led them to a suspect in the GTA and Toronto Police arrested 26-year-old
Matthew Hughes on sexual intereference and child porn charges on Dec. 1.
On Friday, Toronto authorities announced that the horrific scene of abuse the California woman claims she saw was previously
videotaped.
Police allege Hughes was watching that video which was fed to him by a third party, and enabled the California woman
to view it. Authorities have dropped the charge of sexual interference against Hughes, a volunteer soccer coach and part-time
correctional officer, but he's still facing child porn charges.
"I'm just really happy I've been exonerated on the first charge and I hope the other two will follow and I thank my
loved ones for being there when the times are tough and I'm going home for a shower and shave and large regular coffee," Hughes
said outside the courthouse Friday.
He posted $20,000 bail Friday afternoon.
"They made an arrest within hours of the complaint coming to their attention and without really doing their homework,"
Hughes' lawyer Barry Goldman said.
Hughes was suspended from his jail guard job without pay, but he's planning to fight that; he's the union steward.
The California woman told authorities she saw other young children in the background of the videotape. As a result of this
investigation, Det. Sgt. Kim Scanlan of the Sex Crimes Unit said a second victim has been identified, but she wouldn't reveal
any details.
"There are so many victims out there that they are live abuse videos of them, they could be anywhere in Toronto, Canada,
in the world," she said.
Authorities identified the alleged third party user and he's been arrested and charged by American authorities.
"Members of the Toronto Police Service were able to identify the third user, and with the assistance again of the Department
of Homeland Security, immigration and customs enforcement officers, a man was arrested yesterday at his home," Det. Const.
Warren Bulmer said Friday.
"The accused has been taken into custody and is being remanded on state and federal charges."
Nov. 27, 2006 - StreetBeat - Supply Teacher Charged In Sex Assault
Monday November 27, 2006
A man who was staying with a local Toronto family is now accused of betraying their trust by allegedly sexually
assaulting a 14-year-old boy who lived in their home.
Cops are alerting the public to the arrest of 24-year-old Dwayne Pac not only because of his alleged actions, but because
of his job.
The accused works as a supply teacher in the Toronto District School Board and while authorities want to make it clear
the alleged abuse took place in a home, they fear his job could have brought him into contact with other young teens - and
that there could be other victims out there.
Pac has worked at a number of different schools across the city.
He's charged with two counts of sexual assault and sexual exploitation. He made his first appearance on the charges Monday
morning at Old City Hall.
It's the second time in two weeks cops in the G.T.A. have accused a supply teacher of the terrible crime. Last week, Peel
Police alleged a 64-year-old Brampton fill-in took advantage of a 14-year-old girl during class.
If you have anything investigators should know about in this latest case, call them at (416) 808-5400,
or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS (8477).
American Teacher Will Remain In Canada Despite Order Of Deportation
Monday December 18, 2006
A sex offender who was sentenced to 'exile' in Canada has been
ordered deported from the country, but his lawyer vows to vigorously appeal the decision, potentially allowing him to remain
in the country for an indefinite period of time.
Malcolm Watson was convicted of a misdemeanour sexual offence with
a 15-year-old girl across the border near Buffalo. But when a plea bargain in the case allowed the former teacher to avoid
jail time by staying in Canada, government officials at both Queen's Park and Ottawa reacted with outrage.
Now Immigration and Refugee Board member Liz Lasowski has decided that Watson must leave
the Niagara area where he's been staying.
His lawyer, however, is planning to put up a spirited fight.
"(He) can appeal the Immigration Appeal
Board decision to the Federal Court of Canada," said attorney Stephen Green.
"We could go then to the Court of Appeal and we could end up going to the Supreme Court."
Watson was found to be in a position of trust and authority over
his victim, a crime that's considered a criminal offence in Canada.
His presence here led the federal Conservatives to warn their U.S.
counterparts Canada wouldn't be considered a 'dumping' ground for their sexual criminals.
In fact Attorney General Michael Bryant
says he believes in free trade, but not free trade in criminals and says the American judge had no jurisdiction to do what
he did.
Despite the legal wranglings, Green says his client is staying put
for the time being.
"The deportation order against Mr. Watson is stayed. He is a permanent resident of Canada.
He's allowed to work in Canada, travel in Canada. Nothing has changed from this morning with respect to his status in Canada."
Canada-Wide Warrant Issued For Vancouver Sex OffenderFriday November 17, 2006 A
Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Vancouver sex offender John Robin Sharpe. Sharpe, who became well known for challenging
the country's child pornography laws in the Supreme Court, is wanted for failing to follow the rules of the national sex offender
registry. The 73-year-old is believed to be somewhere in British Columbia, Alberta, Montreal, Quebec, or possibly Southeast
Asia. In 1999, Sharpe argued in B.C.'s lower courts that Canada's laws against the possession of child porn violated
his Charter rights. He managed to win two decisions in the provincial courts, and though the SCOC upheld the current laws
it exempted personal writings from being subject to the legislation. Sharpe's lawyers were in court last month trying
to have his conviction overturned for having sex with a boy under 14. He's described as: - White
- 6'1"190
lbs
- Grey hair and blue eyes
- Often wears glasses
Anyone with information about Sharpe's whereabouts
or anyone who sees him is asked to call 911.
New Sex Assault Charges Laid Against Local PastorWednesday December 20, 2006 He
was a man of God in a place of trust. But now what his followers and police both feared might happen has come to pass - another
alleged victim has come forward claiming she was sexually assaulted by her own pastor. Charles Gayle, who heads the
Faith House Apostolic Church in the Lawrence and Caledonia area, was originally charged with four counts of sexual assault
and four more of sexual exploitation last October after a 14-year-old girl came forward and accused him of having inappropriate contact with her. At least one
of the alleged attacks was said to have taken place at the church. But authorities were sure there were other victims
who may not have told police about their experiences. And they appealed for calls on his activities last October. It
paid off when another 15-year-old girl came forward on Wednesday alleging she was taken advantage of by the 48-year-old, too.
Cops re-arrested Gayle, who had been out on bail. And now they're putting out yet another appeal after learning
that Gayle also worked as a registered nurse and made the rounds at local community health centres. They're still encouraging
phone calls to (416) 808-1305. The accused will be back in court on the new charges Thursday.
Whitby Man Facing 282 Sex-Related Charges Appears In Court2006/10/26 | CityNews.ca
Staff Michael Stratton faces nearly 300 sex and child porn charges, and he was due in
court Thursday where a video remand hearing preceded a bail hearing set for November 7. The
39-year-old Whitby man is facing exactly 282 charges, the bulk of which are related to sexual assault, the making of child
pornography and forcible confinement. Meanwhile, police continue to seek help in identifying
a little girl whose image is among hundreds that were found on sexually explicit videotapes that were seized in the case.
Officials estimate the girl is five or six-years-old and believe she may have stayed overnight with
the accused on one or more occasions. "We still have one outstanding victim that is unknown
to us," said Durham police Det. Randy Norton. "We're appealing to the public that
if they entrusted Mr. Stratton with their child between 1998 and 2001, we would like to hear from those people to assist us
in identifying this young girl." Police have already identified more than 10 victims from
the material allegedly recovered from Stratton's home, and suspect there are still more out there. "Offenders
who record this type of material, that is their currency on the Internet," said Paul Gillespie, a consultant and former
head of the Toronto police child exploitation unit. "It allows them to interact with their peers, because
images or movies in their collection are the most important thing in their life. They need that currency to trade for other
images and movies involving newer abuse."
Stratton leaving the courthouse on Tuesday October 24, 2006.
Two more come forward in Durham sex assault case
CTV.ca News Staff
Three more young women have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct at the hands of Whitby's Michael "Ross"
Stratton, already in custody on nearly 300 charges.
Durham Region police put out a plea earlier this week for people who had contact with Stratton over the last 20 years to
speak with them.
As a result, three women who were children at the time of the alleged offences have spoken to police.
"Other victims have come forward and now we're going to pursue an investigation into those allegations," Det. Randy Norton
told CTV News.
"A lot of the time, (victims) live with issues for many years before they have the courage to come forward"
Norton said more charges are likely, based on the latest allegations.
So far, 12 people have come forward alleging abuse by Stratton.
Durham police have received a flood of calls from people who know Stratton, expressing their "anger" and "disgust," Norton
said.
Stratton is in custody at the Lindsay superjail, where he has been held since June on other sex charges.
He is in protective custody, meaning he is isolated from the other inmates.
Stratton was once married and has children, CTV News has learned.

Whitmore preliminary hearing set for Jan. 8
Canadian Press
REGINA — A convicted pedophile accused of sexually assaulting a Saskatchewan boy
and a Manitoba teen will face a preliminary hearing in January.
After a brief hearing in Regina provincial court today, Peter Whitmore was ordered to appear in court Jan. 8.
Prosecutor Anthony Gerein says it's expected to take four days to hear evidence and witness testimony at the preliminary
hearing.
Whitmore, who faces 15 charges in the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault, also elected to be tried by judge and jury.
His decision meant he was not required to enter a plea today.
Whitmore has been in custody since August when he surrendered to police after a 10-hour standoff at an abandoned farmhouse
in Kipling, Sask.

Police ask for help in Ontario sex assault case
CTV.ca News Staff
Police have issued a public appeal in the case of an Ontario man facing nearly 300 sexual assault and child pornography
charges in a case they say stretches back more than 20 years.
Michael "Ross" Stratton of Whitby, outside Toronto, is already in custody on other sex charges.
He now faces another 282 counts for offences alleged to have occurred over a two-decade period.
Following a public appeal by police to Stratton's alleged victims in late August, several more people came forward. Police
say two of the alleged victims were just six years of age at the time of the assaults, and one alleged victim was as young
as five.
Investigators believe there may be even more victims, and are asking for them to come forward.
Victims can contact Durham Region Police at 905-579-1520 ext. 5363. Anonymous calls can be made to the
Durham Region Crime Stoppers at 905-222-8477.
"It's our feeling there are other victims out there who are afraid to come forward, and it has a very big impact on these
victims now that this has all come to light," said Norton.
"The proper things can be put into place with regards to getting them the help they need to deal with it emotionally."
Among the numerous charges Stratton faces:
- Sexual assault: 89 counts
- Making child pornography: 85 counts
- Forcible confinement: 82 counts
- Sexual assault with a weapon: 2 counts
- Possession of child pornography: 1 count
- Assault with a weapon: 2 counts
- Threatening death: 4 counts
He has also been charged with sexual intercourse with a female between the ages of 14 and 16, which dates back to 1985.
"Officers allege some of the sex attacks occurred in Stratton's Whitby home, and some were recorded with a home video system,"
reported CTV Toronto's Jim Junkin.
According to one neighbour, it was common to see young people entering the home.
"I'd see a teenager and she'd bring a small child. My husband thought it was a half-way house," she said.
Police raided Stratton's home in June and seized hours of video, allegedly documenting the sexual assault of girls. Police
also say they found pictures of children taken on outings to public places like Canada's Wonderland, an Ontario amusement
park.
It's believed the videos were destined for the Internet, where law enforcement officials face a constant struggle against
an estimated 14 million child pornography websites. About 20,000 new images of victims are being created every week.
According to Earla-Kim McColl of the National Child Exploitation Centre, many victims suffer at the hands of people close
to their families.
"We warn our children about 'stranger danger,' but in reality it's somebody that has legitimate access to them that the
parents trust, so it covers all socio-economic lines," said McColl.
Stratton stood briefly before an Oshawa court judge Tuesday, and was ordered to be held in jail until his next appearance
on Nov. 7.

Peter Whitmore pleads guilty in deal with Crown
Updated Mon. Jul. 23 2007 6:06 PM ET
CTV.ca News Staff
Convicted pedophile Peter Whitmore has pleaded guilty in the abduction and sexual assault of a Saskatchewan boy and a Manitoba
teenager.
In exchange for a guilty plea, the Crown offered Whitmore a life sentence without the possibility of parole for seven years.
Whitmore's plea relates to 15 charges arising from events last July involving the two boys.
They include three counts of sexual assault causing bodily harm, one kidnapping charge, one charge of abduction of a person
under the age of 14 and one charge of unlawful confinement.
Whitmore also pleaded guilty to uttering threats, possession of a pellet gun and a knife, possession of child pornography
and with making child pornography available to his alleged victims.
"We spent the morning listening to him plead guilty on each individual charge," CTV's Sarah Galashan reported from the
Regina court.
"I could turn behind me and see family members in tears as they listened and the father of one of the boys simply staring
at Peter Whitmore as the details were read into court."
Court of Queen's Bench Justice Ian McLellan called Whitmore's acts "repulsive and sickening.''
Galashan said Whitmore showed little emotion during the process.
"I watched him very carefully and his upper lip did tremble although I have in my notes that I never really thought he
was about to cry," she said.
'Dangerous offender' designation
The plea deal offered to Whitmore will spare him the dangerous offender designation. It also means the victims will not
have to take the stand and testify about their experience with Whitmore.
A dangerous offender designation would mean Whitmore would be put behind bars indefinitely, without the possibility of
parole for seven years -- the same as a life sentence.
The parole board says it treats lifers and dangerous offenders the same when considering parole.
However, legal experts say criminals with dangerous offender status are usually red flagged and are rarely ever granted
parole.
Still, Crown lawyer Anthony Gerein said the sentence essentially achieves the same goal since Whitmore will spend the rest
of his life under some form of supervision.
"He destroyed so much that can never be restored,'' Gerein told the judge. "It ends here. It ends now, with life in prison.''
Gerein described Whitmore as having an "unrelenting commitment to pedophilia.''
He also read out victim impact statements, including one from the 14-year-old Manitoba youth that concluded: "I wish none
of this ever happened. Then I would still be me.''
Whitmore's lawyer read an apology letter on behalf of his client that said: "I had no right to do the things that I did
and I'm very sorry.''
Whitmore's history
Whitmore has been held at a Regina jail since his arrest last August.
He was arrested Aug. 1 after an exhaustive manhunt and 10-hour standoff at an abandoned farmhouse in Saskatchewan.
Both of the boys involved were returned safely to their families. But not long after Whitmore was arrested, the Crown had
asserted it would seek dangerous offender status.
Whitmore, who has been described by justice officials as someone who cannot be rehabilitated, has never been sentenced
to more than six years at a time.
In 1993, Whitmore served 16 months behind bars after an Ontario conviction for abduction and sexual offences involving
four boys.
Just over a week after his release, he took an eight-year-old girl from Guelph, Ont., to Toronto and was sentenced to another
56 months in jail for the offences involving the girl.

Whitmore's long history of victimizing children
Updated Mon. Jul. 23 2007 6:39 PM ET
Canadian Press
REGINA -- For nearly 20 years, Peter Whitmore has been hunting children across Canada
and forcing them to satisfy his sexual desires.
To say that he was a predator well-known to police when he embarked on his last expedition, to the Prairies last summer,
would be an understatement. His victims numbered over a dozen. He'd been jailed repeatedly and, time after time, was assessed
as a high risk to reoffend.
Sometimes he'd attack a child just days after being released.
Invariably, prison psychologists characterized him as a manipulative liar, unwilling to admit that he'd ever harmed anyone.
The sordid history was laid out Monday in Court of Queen's Bench as Whitmore was sentenced to life in prison for his latest
crimes _ kidnapping and sexually assaulting a Manitoba teenager and a 10-year-old Saskatchewan boy.
Documents suggest his life of crime began in 1988, when Whitmore himself was only 18. The attacks began in Toronto in 1989,
when he began luring boys with money or the pretence of a job or a delivery errand.
For his sex crimes against five boys, aged 11 to 13, he was sentenced to 16 months in addition to six months' time served,
and three years probation. He was released on July 29, 1994, after serving two-thirds of his sentence, with strict orders
to avoid contact with children under 14.
Within nine days, he was on the prowl again, this time in Guelph, Ont., where he posed as a worker in child protective
services and managed to trick a mother into turning over her eight-year-old girl. He took her to Toronto, where he forced
her to perform sexual acts on him before sending her home in a taxi.
Another victim was a boy, 9, who lived next door to Whitmore in Keswick, Ont., and was talked into a sleepover. "(The victim)
would say no or stop, it would stop, but then Peter Whitmore would offer money and ask to do it again,'' the court document
states. "That occurred a few times over the course of the one night in question.''
For those two crimes, invitation to sexual touching and sexual interference, Whitmore was sentenced to 56 months in prison
and prohibited from contact with young children.
Even his cellmate at Millhaven Institution, near Kingston, Ont., was disturbed by some of Whitmore's behaviour.
"I know he needs help,'' reported the inmate. "He would stand six inches from TV and stare at kids. He would even touch
the screen where the kid's private parts were. I remember one time when he told me that women were nothing but trouble.''
Back then, he'd admitted to prison psychologist Bruce Malcolm that he'd had 10 or 11 "what he considered 'relationships'
with boys mainly under the age of 12.'' He didn't co-operate with treatment programs in any serious way. Malcolm found Whitmore
a high risk to reoffend.
In March 1997, after authorities at Kent Institution in Agassiz, B.C., found him hiding pictures of children in various
stages of dress, psychologist C. Smiley determined that Whitmore was "at a high risk for maintaining/entering his crime cycle
and for continuing to reinforce his inappropriate sexual responses to children.''
In June 1997, back at Millhaven, yet another psychologist, Jerome Fransblow, had a bleak assessment, describing "a young
man with serious credibility problems due to his lying ... who represents a significant risk to children as an untreated sex
offender.''
At one point in a psychiatric facility, he even tried to come on to children who were visiting another patient.
In January 1998, Whitmore was rejected for parole. But he was released in December 1999, when his sentence expired, under
orders to avoid any activity that would place him in contact with kids.
"It is the belief of the writer that Mr. Whitmore has a goal of offending against children and is determined to beat the
social and judicial system that is currently in place to protect those very same children,'' wrote Det. Paul Lobsinger of
the Toronto Police Service, who prepared a report in advance of his release.
This time Whitmore fled to Mexico, and his next jail sentence was one year, for disobeying a court order. Within a month
of his release in 2000, he was found in a Toronto hotel room with a 13-year-old runaway from New Brunswick. Another 12-month
sentence.
After his release on Nov. 10, 2001, he continued to break the ban on contact with kids, earning another three years behind
bars. But he wasn't getting any better. At the Ontario Regional Treatment Centre in Kingston, offender counsellor Carey Sturgeon
quoted Whitmore to illustrate his attitude: "I am not hurting children by performing oral sex on them'' or "I am not hurting
them because I do not beat them'' or "I am not hurting them because they consent to it and they like it.''
What happened after his release in June 2005 seemed inevitable.
By now he was a registered sex offender. His psychologist and case worker offered no hope for optimism.
He made his way to Conception Bay, N.L., where he paid a young boy $40 in exchange for a chance to touch the boy in June
2006. He was never charged.
One month later he was being accused of kidnapping one boy in Winnipeg and another in Whitewood, Sask. and taking them
on a nightmarish journey of forced sex before he was finally arrested at an abandoned farmhouse.
Police Fear Accused Suspect May Be One Of G.T.A.'s Most Prolific Pedophiles2006/10/24 | CityNews.ca Staff That's what Durham Regional Police are contending, after laying a staggering
282 new charges against a man already facing a wide range of child porn and sexual misconduct allegations. We first
told you about a chameleon named Michael "Ross" Stratton last August. (That's him at left in his various incarnations
over the years.) Police arrested the 39-year-old Whitby resident last June and issued a public appeal about him two
months later. Cops allege they found a large number of videos in his possession depicting young children involved in
various sex acts. They've been watching the disgusting tapes ever since, trying to figure out who the victims are. Many
have come forward since the summer and police allege the attacks they describe go as far back as 1985. They charge two of
the victims were only six years old when the crimes took place. They're now in their late teens. Other alleged victims were between the ages of five and nineteen. Still, investigators fear they may
have only scratched the surface, accusing Stratton of being one of the worst and most prolific pedophiles they've ever come
across. And they're wondering if there are even more now grown adults out there with their own stories to tell. Those
in charge of the investigation are overwhelmed by the number of charges and say more could be coming. "It was one
of the most disturbing cases I've had to deal with. It's the most charges that I have laid in my career," confirms Det.
Randy Norton. Police believe the bulk of the suspected attacks took place in the suspect's Rosedale Drive
home over the past few decades. They won't say what Stratton did for a living, but do admit he has kids of his own. Neighbours
were shocked when Stratton was hauled away in June. They're even more astounded to learn about the latest developments. "It's
just disgusting," one woman agrees. "Oh, my God!" Detectives allege the victims were lured to his house,
plied with drugs and then videotaped while being assaulted. And they maintain the evidence they found turned their stomachs. "It
was revolting. It was sickening," Inspector Dave Wilson related in the summer. "As a matter of fact we had one young
officer that we had assisting us that couldn't view the videos any longer to assist us. It's that sickening." At
least one youngster on the tape remains unidentified and authorities are desperate to find out who she is. Police are
hoping shots of the suspect will jog some long dormant memories and they'll call in with a revelation or two. If
you know anything, contact Durham Police now at (905) 579-1520 ext. 5363, or anonymously at CrimeStoppers,
(905) 222-(TIPS). The suspect was back in an Oshawa courtroom Tuesday to hear the long list of new
charges. They include: Sexual Assault (89 counts) Making Child Pornography (85 counts) Forcible
Confinement (82 counts) Sexual Assault with a Weapon (2 counts) Possession of Child Pornography (1 count) Choking (1 count) Sexual Interference (5 counts) Sexual Exploitation (2 counts) Robbery (2 counts) Invitation to Sexual Touching (3 counts) Assault (3 counts) Threatening Death (4 counts) Assault with
a Weapon (2 counts) Sexual Intercourse with a female between 14&16 (Historical 1985) (1 count)
Dangerous Offender Re-Arrested In Mississauga2006/09/25 | CityNews.ca Staff He worried residents in the Dixie and Bloor area, where he came to stay after a prison sentence. And
now Roger Waddling has a new address - a jail cell. The 29-year-old was originally convicted of aggravated sexual assault
and forcible confinement and was released in May. His freedom prompted police to issue a public warning that he was likely
to reoffend and officials managed to procure a so-called 810 ruling against him, meaning he would only be released with strict
conditions. A few short hours later, he was back behind bars for buying and drinking some booze. That returned him to custody
until July 4th when they set him loose again with the proviso he not get into any trouble for a full year That lasted
until September 7th, when Peel Police received a report about a Peeping Tom looking into the window of a woman's home near
Cawthra and Dundas St. Cops patrolled the area but couldn't find anyone. But when the victim saw the previously released
community safety bulletin, she allegedly recognized Waddling and police picked him up this weekend. He's charged with
a number of new offences and will be in court for a bail hearing on Tuesday. Despite his latest predicament, Waddling
assured the public during the summer that he wasn't a danger to anyone. "I've done eight years in a penitentiary,"
he maintained in July. "That's enough man, that's enough to change people. The media is portraying me as some kind of
animal and I'm not an animal."
Pastor And Teacher Accused Of Terrible Crime Involving A 13-Year-Old Girl2006/12/01
| CityNews.ca Staff Cops have charged a 43-year-old man who works as both a pastor and a teacher with a series
of sex crimes. Paul Tuck teaches at the Mississauga Christian Academy, a private Christian school. He's accused
of luring one of his own teenaged students over the Internet for sex and then assaulting the youngster at both his school
and his church. The case came to the attention of authorities after the parents of a 13-year-old girl became aware of
the alleged offences and contacted police. Detectives say the accused is friends with the family and has taught the
alleged victim for the past two years. They contend Tuck would contact the girl over the web, where he supposedly engaged
in explicit dialogue with the child. The accuse him of using his church and his classroom as a point of contact with
the teen and that he physically carried out some of his web conversations on 'numerous occasions'. News of his arrest
shocked parents who in the area of the school he taught at. "The street is full of little kids
and in the morning it's packed with children going to school. There are three schools in the area," said
Christine Glen-Coussee. "I'm pretty shocked actually because I never expected it from that school,
that's one of the reason I sent (my son) here" adds Kim Decoito. Tuck, who has two daughters of his own,
is facing charges of luring, sexual assault and sexual interference, and remains behind bars awaiting a bail hearing on the
weekend. He keeps a profile on MySpace.com, and some of his personal comments are worrisome. "I am a pastor," he writes, as a slideshow of
him at school and with friends passes by. "I mean, I USED to be a pastor. "MY LIFE IS IN LIMBO RIGHT NOW.
Maybe it's in limbo forever, I don't know ... I feel lately like I have been to hell and back." Authorities
know people in positions of trust often have easy access to children and they're wondering if any other kids have come into
similar contact with the accused. If you can help fill in the blanks, call Peel Police at (905) 453-2121,
ext. 3491.
Hockey Trainer Charged With Sexual Assault2006/07/22 | CityNews.ca Staff The 60-year-old suspect is facing four charges including sexual assault and sexual exploitation
for offences that allegedly happened in 1998, but were only recently reported to police. Authorities say the man has
been a self-employed fitness trainer for 36 years and recruits boys through Toronto hockey arenas. Saturnino "Nino"
Alberi is facing one count of sexual assault and three counts of sexual exploitation and was scheduled to appear in court
Saturday morning. Police believe there may be more victims out there and are appealing for anyone with information to
contact them at (416) 808-2205 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
With Child Porn Charges 2006/08/15
| CityNews.ca Staff Man Charged In Child Porn Case It started with a tip to police on the weekend. It ended Monday with
the arrest of a man on child pornography charges. Cops executed
a search warrant after receiving information about certain images that were allegedly stored on a man's computer. When they
searched his home, they claim they found a large number of suspicious images, along with several videos. Robert Fedoruk, a 51-year-old who apparently worked with young people, remains behind bars charged with possession
of child pornography. He'll be in court Thursday. Cops
are hoping to hear from anyone who might have had contact with the suspect.
Durham Police Warn Of Sex Predator's Release2006/06/08 | CityNews.ca Staff Another release.
Another neighbourhood living in fear.
Durham
Regional Police have become the latest local force to warn residents that a dangerous predator is now living in their midst
- and there's nothing they could do to stop it.
Cecil Kitch Munro was released from a treatment centre in Kingston
Thursday.
The 47-year-old was serving a three-year sentence for a sexual assault he committed in Whitby, but received
seven and half months credit for time served while in custody.
But with the end of his sentence came his release
and his return to the scene of his crimes - the Oshawa area.
Cops consider him a danger to the community and are
working on getting a section 810 served on him - the same kind of ultimately unsuccessful legal leash authorities tried to
impose on Karla Homolka after her release in Quebec.
The order allows police to place severe restrictions on former
prisoners to try and keep tabs on them.
But until they succeed through the courts, Munro is a free man.
How dangerous is he?
His record stretches back to 1976 and he's amassed a stunning record of 54 separate convictions
for a variety of offences.
At least six of those were of a sexual nature against women and children. Officers
note that during his last stay behind bars he was denied parole.
Parents in the area are worried just hearing
about his presence, but some vow they won't live in fear and will remain vigilant.
"It is important to know
who this offender is so that we can protect our children," demands Kim Grant. "That's part of our responsibility
as a community to look out for our neighbours that way."
For now, Munro is forbidden to be alone with anyone
under the age of 18, can't use drugs or alcohol, and has to avoid parks, schools, community centres and even arcades where
young people gather.
Cops vow to keep an eye on him.
"Our offender enforcement unit will be monitoring
this man," confirms Sgt. Paul McCurbin. "I know that for a fact. They have contacted him. He is aware of his conditions
and they will speak with him and advise him that they are watching."
Munro is described as:
- White,
- 47,
- 5'7",
- 200
lbs.,
- Light brown collar length hair,
- Blue eyes,
- He has tattoos of a heart with a banner on his left
arm and the word "Mother" on his right arm.
- It's not the first time in
recent months local guardians have had to bear the brunt of the release of a potentially dangerous offender. Last April, women
around York University had an eerie feeling after 23-year-old Philip Foremsky was put back into the community. He had a record
of sex assault and other violent offences
High Risk Sex Offender Released In Mississauga
Area2010/01/05 | CityNews.ca Staff A high-risk sex
offender has moved to the Mississauga Valley, just months after he was arrested for violating his probation.
Brendon
MacNeill, 38, was first released into the neighbourhood on August 28, 2009. He was picked up by police just one month later
and was eventually sentenced to time served.
MacNeill’s criminal record includes convictions for Sexual Interference,
Luring a Child under 14 Years of Age and Child Pornography.
He is still bound by a probation order, but police
believe he is at high risk to re-offend.
Officers as well as members of the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional
Services will be monitoring his behaviour.
However, they are asking members of the public to be cautious.
Police have also warned that MacNeill is still a Canadian citizen and residents should not take matters into their own hands.
